And These are the Names

And these are the names of the sons of Yisra’ēl, those coming into Egypt with Ya‘aqōv̱, each man and his house who had come. ^1:2Re’ūv̱ēn, Shimō̒n, Lēvi̱, and Yehūdah, ^3Yissashḳar, Zev̱ūlūn, and Binyami̱n, ^4Dan and Naphtali̱, Gad and A̓shēr.

^5Then were all the souls going out of the loins of Ya‘aqōv̱ seventy souls. And Yōsēf had been in Egypt. ^6Then Yōsēf died, and all his brothers, and all that generation.

^7And the sons of Yisra’ēl had been fruitful. Then they became a teeming multitude. So then, they multiplied. Then they became exceedingly powerful. So then, the land was filled with them.

^8Then there arose a new king over Egypt, who had not known Yōsēf. ^9Then he said to his people, “Look, the people of the sons of Yisra’ēl are more and mightier than us. ^10Come now! Let us wisen ourselves up to him, lest he should multiply, and it will have been that, when war calls us, also he will have added himself to those hating us. And he will have been fighting against us. And he will have gone up out of the land.”

^11Then they set over him bosses of forced labor, for the purpose of making him to be afflicted with their burdens. Then he built for Phara̒oh store-cities: Pitōm and Ra‘amsēs. ^12And as they afflicted him, so he multiplied and so he broke abroad. Then, they felt a sick dread in the face of the sons of Yisra’ēl. ^13So then, Egypt made the sons of Yisra’ēl to serve in harshness. ^14So then, they embittered their lives with hard service, in mortar and in bricks, and in every service in the field, along with every service of their’s, which they had served on them in harshness.

^15Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the second Pū‘ah. ^16Then, he said, “While bearing with the Hebrew women, and you have looked for the two stones—if he is a son, then you will have killed him, and if she is a daughter, then she will have lived.” ^17Then the midwives feared the Almĭghty, and they had not done according to what the king of Egypt had spoken. So then, they kept the boys alive. ^18Then the king of Egypt called for the midwives. Then he said to them, “Why have you done this thing! So then, you keep the boys alive!” ^19Then the midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, because they are lively. Before the midwife comes to them, then they have given birth.” ^20Then the Almĭghty was good to the midwives. So then, the people multiplied. So then, they grew very mighty. ^21So then, it was, because the midwives feared the Almĭghty, then he made them households.

^22Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son that is born, you shall cast him into the Nile river, and every daughter you shall keep alive.”

Then She Called His Name Mōshēh.

Then there went a man of the house of Lēvi̱. Then he took the daughter of Lēvi̱. ^2:2Then the woman conceived. Then she bore a son. Then she saw him, that he was good. Then, she hid him three months.

^3And she had not been able to hide him longer. Then she took for him an ark of bulrushes. Then she tarred it with bituminous tar and with pitch. Then she set the boy in it. Then she set it in the reeds upon the lip of the river. ^4Then his sister stood herself at a distance, to know what would be done for him.

^5And the daughter of Pharaoh went down to bathe at the river. And her girls were walking on the hand of the river. Then she saw the ark in the midst of the reeds. Then she sent her maid servant. Then she took it. ^6Then she opened it. Then she saw him: the boy! And behold, the lad was weeping. Then she took pity on him. Then she said, “From the boys of the Hebrews is this one.”

^7Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go, and I will have called for you a nursing women from the Hebrews, and she will nurse the boy for you?” ^8Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” Then the virgin went. Then she called the boy’s mother. ^9Then Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, “Raise this boy, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” Then the woman took the boy. Then she nursed it.

^10Then the boy grew. Then she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter. Then he became her son. Then she called his name Mōshēh. Then she said, “because I have drawn him from the waters.” ^11Then it was in those days, when Mōshēh was grown up, then he went out to his brothers. Then he looked on their burdens. Then he saw an Egyptian man beating a Hebrew man, one of his brothers. ^12Then he turned this way and that way. Then he saw no man. Then he struck the Egyptian, then he hid him in the sand.

^13Then he went out the second day, and, behold, two men of the Hebrews were struggling together. Then he said to the guilty one, “Why do you strike your fellow?” ^14Then he said, “Who has set you up as a boss man and judger over us? Will you kill me, you talker as that, you have killed the Egyptian?” Then Mōshēh feared. Then he said, “Surely the thing has become known.”

^15Then Pharaoh heard this thing. Then he sought to kill Mōshēh. Then Mōshēh fled from the face of Pharaoh. Then he stayed in the land of Midyan. Then he sat down by a well.

^16And the priest of Midyan had seven daughters. Then they came. Then they drew water. Then they filled the troughs to water their father’s flock. ^17Then the shepherds came. Then they drove them away. Then Mōshēh stood up. Then he saved them. Then he watered their flock.

^18Then they came to Re‘ū’ēl their father. Then he said, “For what reason have you been quick to come today?” ^19Then they said, “An Egyptian man has delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover drawing he has drawn for us. Then he watered the flock!” ^20Then he said unto his daughters, “And where is he? What is this? You have left the man? Call him! Then he may eat bread!”

^21Then Mōshēh was willing to dwell with the man. Then he gave Tsippōrah his daughter to Mōshēh. ^22Then she bore a son. Then he called his name Gērshōm, because he had said, “I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.”

^23Then it was in those many days, then the king of Egypt died. Then the sons of Yisra’ēl groaned because of slavery. Then they cried out. Then their cry for help came up unto the Almĭghty because of slavery. ^24Then the Almĭghty hears their groaning. Then the Almĭghty remembers his covenant with A̓v̱raham, with Yitsḥaq, and with Ya‘aqōv̱. ^25Then the Almĭghty looks at the sons of Yisra’ēl. Then the Almĭghty notices.

And Mōshēh had been shepherding the flock of Yitʰrō his in-law, the priest of Midyan: then he drove the flock behind the wilderness; then he came to the mountain of the Almĭghty, toward ³Ḥōræv̱. ^3:2Then the Messenger of Yăhwēh was seen by him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush: then he saw, and, behold, the bush was burning in the fire, and the bush was not itself being consumed.

^3Then Mōshēh said, “Let me turn aside please, and let me see this great sight, for what reason the bush cannot be burnt.” ^4Then Yăhwēh saw that he had turned aside to see; then the Almĭghty called unto him out of the midst of the bush; then he said, “Mōshēh, Mōshēh.” Then he said, “Here I am”.

^5Then he said, “You may not come near here: put off your sandals from on your feet, because of the place which you are standing on;—it is holy ground.” ^6Then he said, “I am the Almĭghty of your father, the Almĭghty of A̓v̱raham, the Almĭghty of Yitsḥaq, and the Almĭghty of Ya‘aqōv̱.” Then Mōshēh hid his face, because he had feared to look at the Almĭghty.

^77Then Yăhwēh said, “Seeing I have seen the affliction of my people that are in Egypt, and their cry I have heard in the face of his taskmasters; because I have known his sorrows; ^8And I come down to deliver him from the hand of Egypt, and to bring him up from that land unto a good land and a wide one, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Kena‘ani, and the Ḥitti̱, and the E̓mōri̱, and the Perizzi̱, and the Ḥivvi̱, and the Yev̱ūsi̱. ^9And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Yisra’æl has come unto me: and also I have seen the oppression with which Egypt is oppressing them. ^10And now come, and let me send you unto Pharaoh, and bring forth my people, the sons of Yisra’æl, out of Egypt.

^11Then Mōshēh said unto the Almĭghty, “Who am I, that I may go unto Pharaoh, and that I may bring forth the sons of Yisra’æl out of Egypt?”

^12Then he said, “Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be the sign unto you, that I myself have sent you: when you bring forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve the Almĭghty upon this mountain.”

^13Then Mōshēh said unto the Almĭghty, “Behold, I will have come unto the sons of Yisra’æl, and I will have said unto them, ‘The Almĭghty of your fathers has sent me unto you;’ and they will have said to me, ‘What is his †name?’ What shall I say unto them?”

^14Then the Almĭghty said unto Mōshēh, “I make happen what I will to make happen:”† then he said, “Thus shall you say to the sons of Yisra’æl, ‘I make happen’‡ has sent me unto you. ^15Then the Almĭghty said again unto Mōshēh, “Thus shall you say unto the sons of Yisra’æl, ‘Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of your fathers, the Almĭghty of A̓v̱raham, the Almĭghty of Yitsḥaq, and the Almĭghty of Ya‘aqōv̱, has sent me unto you: this is my name† forever, and this is my memorial‡ unto all generations.’ ^16Go, and you will have gathered the elders of Yisra’æl together, and you will have said unto them, ‘Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of your fathers has been seen by me, the Almĭghty of A̓v̱raham, of Yitsḥaq, and of Ya‘aqōv̱, saying, attending I will have attended you, and what is done to you in Egypt: ^17Therefore, I say, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Kena‘ani, and the Ḥitti̱, and the E̓mōri̱, and the Perizzi̱, and the Ḥivvi̱, and the Yevūsi̱, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. ^18And they will have listened to your voice: and you will have come yourself, you and the elders of Yisra’æl, unto the king of Egypt, and you will have said unto him, ‘Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of the Hebrews, has met with us: and now let us go, please, three days’ journey into the wilderness, and let us sacrifice to Yăhwēh our Almĭghty.’ ^19And I have known that the king of Egypt will not give you leave to go, and not even by a mighty hand. ^20Then I will have sent forth my hand, and I will have struck Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst of it: and afterward, consequently, he will send you. ^21And I will have given this people favor in the eyes of Egypt: and it will have been, that, when you go, you will not go empty. ^22But every woman shall have asked of her neighbor, and from she who sojourns† in her house, for things of silver, and things of gold, and garments: and you shall have put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and you shall have plundered Egypt.

Then Mōshēh answered. Then he said, “And what if they will not give any support to me, nor listen to my voice; because they will say, ‘Yăhwēh has not been seen by you.’”

^4:2Then Yăhwēh said unto him, “What is that in your hand?” Then he said, “A rod.” ^3Then he said, “Throw it to the ground.” Then he threw it to the ground; then it changed to a serpent; then Mōshēh fled in the face of it. ^4Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Put forth your hand, and grasp it on its tail: (then he put forth his hand; then he put a strong grip on it; then it changed to a rod in his palm:) ^5so that they may confirm that Yăhwēh has been seen by you, the Almĭghty of their fathers, the Almĭghty of A̓v̱raham, the Almĭghty of Yitsḥaq, and the Almĭghty of Ya‘aqōv̱.” ^6Then Yăhwēh said again to him, “Please bring your hand into your bosom.” Then he brought his hand into his bosom; then he brought it out, and behold, his hand was made to be leprous as snow. ^7Then he said, “Return your hand unto your bosom. (Then he returned his hand unto his bosom; then he brought it out from his bosom, and behold, it had returned as his flesh.) ^8Then it will have been, if they will not support you, neither listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will support the voice of the latter sign. ^9And it will have been, if they will not give support even to two of these signs, neither listen to your voice, then you will have taken from the waters of the ³river, and you will have poured it upon the dry land. And they shall have become—the waters which you will take from the river: they shall have become blood on the dry land.”

^10Then Mōshēh said unto Yăhwēh, “As for me, A̓dōnai, no man of words am I, even since yesterday, even since the †third day, from when you spoke to your servant, because heavy of mouth, and heavy of tongue am I.”

^11Then Yăhwēh said unto him, “Who has appointed a mouth for man? Or who can appoint a dumb one, or deaf one, or sighted one, or blind one? Is it not I, Yăhwēh? ^12And now go, and I will be with your mouth, and I will have taught you what you will speak.”

^13Then he said, “As for me, A̓dōnai, send, please, by the hand of one you can† send.”

^14Then the anger of Yăhwēh burned against Mōshēh; then he said, “Is there not A̓harōn your brother the Lēvi̱? I have known that a speech he can speak himself. And also, behold, he goes forth himself to call on you: and he will have seen you, and he will have become glad in his heart. ^15And you will have spoken unto him, and you will have put the words in his mouth: and I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and I will have taught you what you will do! ^16And he will have spoken himself for you unto the people; and it will have been: he will be to you a mouth, and you shall be to him as the Almĭghty. ^17And you shall take in your hand this rod, with which you shall do the signs.”

^18Then Mōshēh went; then he returned unto Yitʰrō his in-law; then he said unto him, “May I go, please, and may I return unto my brothers which are in Egypt, and may I see if yet they be alive?” Then Yitʰrō said to Mōshēh, “Go in peace.”

^19Then† Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh in Midyan, “Go, return to Egypt; because all the men have died, those seeking your soul.” ^20Then Mōshēh took his wife and his sons, then he mounted them upon an donkey; then he turned toward the land of Egypt. Then, Mōshēh took the rod of the Almĭghty in his hand.

^21Then, Yăhwēh said unto Moshēh, “In your going to return to Egypt, keep in view† all the wonders which I have put in your hand. And you will have done them before the face of Pharaoh, and I will strengthen his heart and he will not ‡send the people. ^22Then you will have said unto Pharaoh, ‘Thus has said Yăhwēh, Yisra’æl is my son, my firstborn: ^23And I have said unto you, ‘Send my son, and let him serve me,’ and you refuse to send him: behold, I am slaying your son, your firstborn!’”

^24Then it was on the way at the lodging-place, then Yăhwēh met him; then he sought to make him die.† ^25Then Tsippōrah took a flint; then she cut off the foreskin of her son; then she made it touch his feet; then she said, “Surely a bridegroom of blood you are to me.” ^26So he relented from him. Then she had said,“ A bridegroom of blood are you, concerning the circumcision.”

^27And Yăhwēh said unto ‘A̓harōn, “Go into the wilderness to call on Mōshēh.” Then he went, and met up with him at the mountain† of the Almĭghty; then kissed him. ^28Then Mōshēh told ‘A̓harōn all the words of Yăhwēh by which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had commanded him.

^29Then Mōshēh went and ‘A̓harōn and they gathered all the elders of the sons of Yisra’æl: ^30Then ‘A̓harōn spoke all the words which Yăhwēh had spoken unto Moshēh; then he did the signs in the sight of the people. ^31Then the people gave their support; therefore, they heard that Yăhwēh had attended the sons of Yisra’æl, and that he had seen their affliction; then they bowed down; then they worshipped.

And afterward Mōshēh and ‘A̓harōn came; then said unto Pharaoh, “Thus has said Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of Yisra’æl, ‘Send my people, and let them keep a †feast to me in the wilderness.’” ^5:2Then Pharaoh said, “Who is Yăhwēh, that I should listen to his voice to send Yisra’æl? I have not known Yăhwēh, and also Yisra’æl I will not send.” ^3Then they said, “The Almĭghty of the Hebrews has been calling on us: let us go, please, a journey of three days in the wilderness, and let us sacrifice to Yăhwēh our Almĭghty, lest he fall upon us with plague, or with the sword.”

^4Then the king of Egypt said unto them, “Why Mōshēh and A̓harōn do you let loose the people from its work? Go to your burdens!” ^5Then Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you have made them rest from their burdens.” ^6Then on that day Phara̒ōh commanded the taskmasters over the people, and its foremen, saying, ^7“You shall no more give ţhe people straw to make ţhe bricks, as yesterday, or the third day. Let them go and they will have gathered straw for themselves. ^8And the number of ţhe bricks, which they have been making yesterday, and the third day, you shall put upon them; you shall not diminish any from of it, because they are being lazy; therefore they are crying, saying, ‘Let us go; let us sacrifice to our Almĭghty.’ ^9Let the work be heavier upon the men; then they may labor in it; and they will not look to lying words.”

^10Then the taskmasters of the people went out; and its foremen; then they spoke to the people, saying, “Thus has said Pharaoh, ‘I am not giving you straw. ^11Go yourselves, take yourselves straw from where you can find it, but not a thing is being diminished from your work.” ^12Then the people scattered in all the land of Egypt to stubble stubble for straw. ^13And ţhe taskmasters were pressing them saying, “Complete your tasks, the tally day by day as that when there was straw.”

^14Then the foremen of the sons of Yisra’ēl, which Phara̒ōh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, saying “Why have you not finished your quota for making bricks as yesterday and the third day; even yesterday, even today?” ^15Then the foremen of the sons of Yisra’ēl came; then they cried unto Phara̒ōh, saying, “Why do you do so to your servants? ^16No straw is being given to your servants, and they are saying to us, ‘Make brick;’ and behold, your servants are being beaten; and the fault is your people.”

^17Then he said, “You are being lazy, you are being lazy. Therefore you are saying, ‘Let us go; let us sacrifice to Yăhwēh.’ ^18And now go! work! and no straw will be given to you, and the specified total of bricks you will deliver.”

^19Then the foremen of the sons of Yisra’ēl saw they were in trouble at their saying, “You shall not reduce a thing from your bricks day by day.” ^20Then they confronted Moshēh and A̓harōn, standing to call on them, when they came forth from Phara̒ōh: ^21Then they said unto them, “May Yăhwēh look upon you, and may he judge, because you have made our odor stink in the eyes of Phara̒ōh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.”

^22Then Moshēh returned unto Yăhwēh, and he said, “A̓dŏnai, why have you done badly to this people? why is this that you have sent me? ^23And from the time I have come to Phara̒ōh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people; and delivering, you have not delivered your people!”

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Now you will see what I will do to Phara̒ōh, because by a strong hand he will send them, and by a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.” ^6:2Then the Almĭghty spoke unto Mōshēh; then he said unto him, “I am Yăhwēh. ^3†Therefore, I was seen by A̓v̱raham, by Yitsḥaq, and by Ya‘aqōv̱, as Ē̓l Shaddai; and by my name Yăhwēh, I had not made myself known to them.”‡

^4“And also, I will have made stand my covenant with them, to give to them the land of Kena‘an, the land of their sojournings, that they have sojourned in. ^5And also, I, I have heard the groaning of the sons of Yisra’ēl, because Egypt is enslaving them; therefore, I will remember my covenant.”

^6“So say to the sons of Yisra’ēl, ‘I am Yăhwēh, and I will have brought you out from under the burdens of Egypt, and I will have delivered you from their slavery, and I will have redeemed you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments. ^7And I will have taken you to me, for a people, and I will have been to you as Almĭghty, and you will have known that I am Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, the one bringing you out, from under the burdens of Egypt. ^8And I will have brought you unto the land, which I have lifted my hand to give to A̓v̱raham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‘aqōv̱. And I will have given it you as a possession. I am Yăhwēh.”

^9Then Mōshēh spoke so, unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, and they had not listened unto Mōshēh, because of shortness of spirit, and because of hard slavery. ^10Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh, saying, ^11“Go in, speak unto Phara̒ōh king of Egypt, and may he send the sons of Yisra’ēl from his land.” ^12Then Mōshēh spoke before the face of Yăhwēh, saying, “Behold, the sons of Yisra’ēl have not listened unto me, and how will Phara̒ōh hear me? And I am uncircumcised of lips.” ^13Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh and unto A̓harōn; then he ordered them unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, and unto Phara̒ōh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Yisra’ēl out of the land of Egypt.

^14aThese are the heads of their fathers’ houses:

^14bThe sons of Re’ūv̱ēn, the firstborn of Yisra’ēl: Ḥanōḳ and Pallū̓, ³Hetsrōn and *Carmi̱; these are the families of Re’ūv̱ēn.

^15And the sons of Shimō̒n: Yemū’ēl, and Yami̱n, and Ō̓had, and Yaḳi̱n, and Tsōḥar, and Sha’ūl, the son of a Kena‘ani̱t woman; these are the families of Shimō̒n.

^16And these are the names of the sons of Lēvi̱ by their begettings: Gērshōn, and Qehatʰ, and Merari̱; and the years of the life of Lēvi̱ were seven and thirty and a hundred years. ^17The sons of Gērshōn: Liv̱ni̱ and Shim‘i̱, by their families. ^18And the sons of Qehatʰ: A̒mram, and Yitshar, and Ḥev̱rōn, and Ū̒zzi̱’ēl; and the years of the life of Qehatʰ were three and thirty and a hundred years. ^19And the sons of Merari̱: Maḥli̱ and Mūshi̱. These are the families of the Lēvi̱ by their begettings.

^20Then A̒mram took Yōḳev̱ed, his aunt for himself as a wife; then she bore to him A̓harōn and Mōshēh; and the years of the life of A̒mram were seven and thirty and a hundred years. ^21And the sons of Yits-har: Qōraḥ, and Nepheg, and Ziḳri̱. ^22And the sons of Ū̒zzi̱’ēl: Mi̱sha’ēl, and E̓l-tsaphan, and ³Sitʰri̱.

^23Then A̓harōn took †E̓li̱shev̱a̒, the daughter of A̒mmi̱nadav̱, the sister of Naḥshōn for himself as a wife; then she bore to him Nadav̱ and A̓v̱i̱hū̓, E̓la̒zar and Ī̓tʰamar.

^24And the sons of Qōraḥ: A̓ssi̱r, and E̓lqanah, and A̓v̱i̱a̓saph; these are the families of the Qōraḥi̱. ^25And E̓la̒zar son of A̓harōn took to himself one from the daughters of Pūti̱’ēl, for himself as a wife; then she bore to him Pi̱nḥas. These are the heads of the fathers houses of the Lēvi̱yim by their families.

^26Such are A̓harōn and Mōshēh, to whom Yăhwēh had said to them, “Bring out the sons of Yisra’ēl from the land of Egypt by their hosts.” ^27They were the ones speaking unto Phara̒ōh king of Egypt, to bring out the sons of Yisra’ēl from Egypt; such are Mōshēh and A̓harōn. ^28Then it was in the day Yăhwēh had spoken unto Mōshēh in the land of Egypt, ^29then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh, saying, “I am Yăhwēh: speak unto Phara̒ōh king of Egypt all that I am speaking unto you.” ^30Then Mōshēh said before the face of Yăhwēh, “Behold, I am uncircumcised of lips, and how will Phara̒ōh listen unto me?”

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “See, I have made you as the Almĭghty to Phara̒ōh, and A̓harōn your brother will be your prophet. ^7:2You will speak all that I command you, and A̓harōn your brother will speak unto Phara̒ōh, and he will have sent the sons of Yisra’ēl out of his land. ^3And I, I will harden the heart of Phara̒ōh, and I will have multiplied my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. ^4And Phara̒ōh will not listen unto you, and I will have put my hand upon Egypt, and I will have brought forth my hosts, my people the sons of Yisra’ēl, out of the land of Egypt with great judgments. ^5And Egypt will have known that I am Yăhwēh, when I stretch my hand upon Egypt, and I will have brought out the sons of Yisra’ēl from the midst of them.”

^6Then did Mōshēh and A̓harōn. As that Yăhwēh had commanded them, so they had done. ^7And Mōshēh was a son of eighty years, and A̓harōn was a son of three and eighty years, during their speaking unto Phara̒ōh.

^8Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh and unto A̓harōn, saying, ^9“When Phara̒ōh shall speak unto you, saying, ‘Provide a wonder for yourselves, then you will have said unto A̓harōn, “Take your rod, and cast it down at the face of Phara̒ōh. It will become a serpent.

^10Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn went in unto Phara̒ōh. Then they did so, as that Yăhwēh had commanded. At that time, A̓harōn cast down his rod at the face of Phara̒ōh, and at the face of his servants. Then it became a serpent.

^11Then Phara̒ōh also called for the wise men and for the sorcerers. Then they, the diviners of Egypt, also did likewise, with their secret arts. ^12Then they cast down, each man, his rod; then they became serpents. Then the rod of A̓harōn swallowed up their rods. ^13Then Phara̒ōh’s heart became strong, and he had not listened unto them, as that Yăhwēh had spoken.

^14Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Phara̒ōh’s heart is heavy; he has refused to send the people. ^15Go unto Phara̒ōh in the daybreak. Behold, he is going out unto the water, and you will have stood to call on him upon the lip of the river, and the rod which had been turned into a snake, you will take in your hand. ^16And you will have said unto him, ‘Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of the Hebrews, has sent me unto you, saying, “Send my people, and let them serve me in the wilderness, and, behold, you have not listened so far.” ^17Thus has said Yăhwēh, “By this you will know that I am Yăhwēh.† Behold, I am striking with the rod, which is in my hand, upon the waters which are in the river, and they will have been turned to blood. ^18And the fish which are in the river will die, and the river will have become a stink, and Egypt will have become worn out to drink water from the river.’”

^19Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Say unto A̓harōn, ‘Take your rod, and stretch your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their marshes, and over all their catchments of water. Then they will become blood, and there will have been blood in all the land of Egypt, and in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.”

^20Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn did so, as that Yăhwēh had commanded. At that time, he lifted with the rod. Then he struck the waters that were in the river, before the eyes of Phara̒ōh, and before the eyes of his servants. Then all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. ^21And the fish that were in the river had died. Then the river became a stink, and Egypt had not been able to drink water from the river. Therefore, the blood was in all the land of Egypt. ^22Then the diviners of Egypt did likewise with their secret arts. Then the heart of Phara̒ōh became strong, and he had not listened unto them, as that Yăhwēh had spoken.

^23Then Phara̒ōh turned. Then he went unto his house, and he had not taken to his heart even this. ^24Then they dug, all Egypt, round about the river for water to drink; because they were not able to drink from the waters of the river. ^25Then seven days were fulfilled, after Yăhwēh’s striking the river.

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Go in unto Phara̒ōh, and you will have said unto him, ‘Thus has said Yăhwēh, “Send my people, and let them serve me. ^8:2And if you are refusing to send them, behold, I am striking all your borders with frogs. ^3And the river will have swarmed with frogs, and they will have gone up, and they will have come in your house, and in your room, and your bed, and on your divan, and in the house of your servants, and on your people, and in your ovens, and in your kneadingtroughs. ^4And the frogs will come up on you, and on your people, and on all your servants.”

^5Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Say unto A̓harōn, ‘Stretch your hand with your rod over the rivers, over the streams, and over the marshes, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.”

^6Then A̓harōn stretched his hand over the waters of Egypt. Then frogs came up. Then they covered the land of Egypt. ^7Then the diviners did likewise with their secret arts. Therefore, they brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

^8Then Phara̒ōh called to Mōshēh and to A̓harōn. Then he said, “Pray unto Yăhwēh, and let him turn away the frogs from me, and from my people, and let me send the people, and let them sacrifice unto Yăhwēh.”

^9Then Mōshēh said to Phara̒ōh, “Take the honor over me, to say when I shall pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to have the frogs cut off from you, and from your houses, and only in the river they will be left.” ^10Then he said, “Tomorrow.” Then he said, “It will be according to your word, so that you may know that there is none like Yăhwēh our Almĭghty. ^11And the frogs will have turned from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. Only in the river they shall be left.” ^12Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn went out from with Phara̒ōh. Then Mōshēh cried unto Yăhwēh about the matter of the frogs which he had determined for Phara̒ōh. ^13Then Yăhwēh did according to the word of Mōshēh. Then the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields. ^14Then they gathered them together, heaps of heaps. Then the land stunk.

^15Then Phara̒ōh saw that there had been relief. Then he made his heart heavy, and he had not listened unto them, as that Yăhwēh had spoken.

^16Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Say unto A̓harōn, ‘Stretch your rod, and strike the dust of the earth, and it will have become gnats in all the land of Egypt. ^17Then they did so. Then A̓harōn stretched his hand with his rod. Then he struck the dust of the earth. Then it became gnats on man, and on beast. All the dust of the earth had became gnats in all the land of Egypt. ^18Then the diviners did so with their secret arts, trying to bring forth gnats, and they were not able. At that time, there were gnats on man, and on beast.

^19Then the diviners said unto Phara̒ōh, “It is the finger of the Almĭghty. And the heart of Phara̒ōh became strong, and he had not listened unto them, as that Yăhwēh had spoken.

^20Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Rise up early in the daybreak, and stand before the face of Phara̒ōh. Behold, he is going out to the water, and you will have said unto him, “Thus has said Yăhwēh, ‘Send my people, and let them serve me. ^21But, if you are not sending my people, behold, I am sending the a̒rōv̱† on you, and on your servants, and on your people, and in your houses, and the houses of Egypt will have been filled with a̒rōv̱, and also the ground which they go up on.”

^22“And I will have distinguished in that day the land of Gōshen, that my people are standing on. There will be no a̒rōv̱ there, so that you may know that I am Yăhwēh in the midst of the earth. ^23And I will have put a redemption† between my people and between your people. Tomorrow will this sign be.”

^24Then Yăhwēh did so. Then came heavy a̒rōv̱ into the house of Phara̒ōh, and the house of his servants, and in all the land of Egypt. The land was ruined in the face of the a̒rōv̱. ^25Then Phara̒ōh called unto Mōshēh and to A̓harōn. Then he said, “Go, sacrifice to your Almĭghty in the land.

^26Then Mōshēh said, “It is not proper to do so, because we shall sacrifice the abomination of Egypt to Yăhwēh our Almĭghty. Look, shall we sacrifice the abomination of Egypt before their eyes, and they will not stone us? ^27A journey of three days we will go in the wilderness, and we will have sacrificed to Yăhwēh our Almĭghty, as that he will say unto us.”

^28Then Phara̒ōh said, “I will send you, and you will have sacrificed to Yăhwēh your Almĭghty in the wilderness. Only wandering far, you shall not wander far in your going. Pray on behalf of me.”

^29Then Mōshēh said, “Behold, I am going out from with you, and I will have prayed unto Yăhwēh, and the a̒rōv̱ will have turned from Phara̒ōh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow. Only let not Phara̒ōh deceive again by not sending the people to sacrifice to Yăhwēh.”

^30Then Mōshēh went out from with Phara̒ōh. Then he prayed unto Yăhwēh. ^31Then Yăhwēh did according to the word of Mōshēh. Then he turned the a̒rōv̱ from Phara̒ōh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one had been left. ^32Then Phara̒ōh made his heart heavy at this time also, and he had not sent the people.

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Go in unto Phara̒ōh, and you will have spoken unto him, ‘Thus has said Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of the Hebrews, “Send my people, and let them serve me. ^9:2Because, if you are refusing to send them, and you continue holding onto them, ^3then behold, the hand of Yăhwēh is coming on your cattle which are in the field, on the horses, upon the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks, a very heavy plague. ^4And Yăhwēh will have made a distinction between the cattle of Yisra’ēl and between the cattle of Egypt. And there shall nothing die from all belonging to the sons of Yisra’ēl.”’”

^5Then Yăhwēh set an appointed time, saying, “Tomorrow Yăhwēh will do this thing in the land.” ^6Then Yăhwēh did that thing in the tomorrow. Then all the cattle of Egypt died, and of the cattle of the sons of Yisra’ēl, not one died had died. ^7Then Phara̒ōh sent, and behold, not even one had died from the cattle of Yisra’ēl. Then the heart of Phara̒ōh became heavy, and he did not send the people.

^8Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh and unto A̓harōn, “Take for yourself handfuls of kiln soot, and Mōshēh will have sprinkled it heavenward before the eyes of Phara̒ōh. ^9And it will have become as dust over all the land of Egypt, and it will have become upon man and upon beast, a boil breaking out blisters in all the land of Egypt.” ^10Then they took soot of the kiln. Then they stood before the face of Phara̒ōh. Then Mōshēh sprinkled it heavenward. Then it became a boil, blisters breaking out on man and on beast. ^11And the diviners were not able to stand before the face of Mōshēh in the face of the boils, because the boils had been on the diviners, and on all Egypt.

^12Then Yăhwēh strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh, and he had not listened unto them, as that Yăhwēh had spoken unto Mōshēh. ^13Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Rise up early in the daybreak, and stand before the face of Phara̒ōh, and you will have said unto him, ‘Thus has said Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of the Hebrews, “Send my people, and let them serve me. ^14Because, I am at this time sending all my plagues into your †heart, and on your servants, and on your people. As a result, you will know that none is like me in all the earth. ^15Because by now I could have sent forth my hand. Then I could smite you and your people with pestilence. Then you would be cut off from the earth. ^16But with this aim I have made you to stand, with the aim of showing you my power, and for the sake of recounting my name in all the earth. ^17You are still exalting yourself against my people, by not sending them! ^18Behold, I am causing a rain about this time tomorrow, of a very heavy hail, that has not been the like of in Egypt since the day of its being founded even until now. ^19And now send notice. Take shelter with your cattle and with all which belongs to you in the field. Every man and beast which is found in the field, and is not gathered into the house, then the hail shall come down upon them, and they will have died.”

^20The one who feared the word of Yăhwēh, from the servants of Phara̒ōh, had made his servants flee, and his cattle, into the houses. ^21And the one which had not set his heart unto the word of Yăhwēh, then he left his servants and his cattle in the field.

^22Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Stretch your hand over the heavens, and let there be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every plant of the field, in the land of Egypt.”

^23Then Mōshēh stretched out his rod over the heavens. And Yăhwēh had given thunder and hail. Then fire went earthward. Then Yăhwēh rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ^24And there was hail, and fire carried along in the midst of the hail, very heavy, which had not been the like of in all the land of Egypt from the time it had became a nation. ^25Then the hail struck in all the land of Egypt, all that was in the field, from man even to beast, and the hail had struck every plant of the field, and it had broken every tree of the field. ^26Only in the land of Gōshen, where the sons of Yisra’ēl were, had there been no hail.

^27Then Phara̒ōh sent word. Then he called for Mōshēh and for A̓harōn. Then he said unto them, “I have sinned this time. Yăhwēh is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones. ^28Pray unto Yăhwēh. And enough of being almighty thunderings and hail, and let me send you, and you shall not continue to remain.”

^29Then Mōshēh said unto him, “At my exiting the city, I will spread out my palms unto Yăhwēh. The thunders shall cease, and the hail will not come again, so that you may know that the earth belongs to Yăhwēh. ^30And you and your servants, I have known that you will not yet fear Yăhwēh Almĭghty.”

^31And the flax and the barley had been struck, because the barley was in the ‡ear, and the flax was in bud. ^32And the wheat and the spelt had not been struck, because they were late. ^33Then Mōshēh exited the city from with Phara̒ōh. Then he spread out his palms unto Yăhwēh. Then the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not pouring earthward. ^34Then Phara̒ōh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders had ceased. Then he continued to sin. Then he made his heart heavy, he and his servants. ^35Then the heart of Phara̒ōh became strong, and he had not sent the sons of Yisra’ēl, as that Yăhwēh had spoken by the hand of Mōshēh.

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Go in unto Phara̒ōh, because I have made his heart heavy, and the heart of his servants, for the sake of putting these signs of mine in the midst of it, ^10:2And so that you may recount in the ears of your son, and the son of your son, that which I have dealt severely on Egypt, and my signs which I have put among them. And you will have known that I am Yăhwēh.”

^3Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn went in unto Phara̒ōh. Then they said unto him, “Thus has said Yăhwēh, the Almĭghty of the Hebrews, ‘Until when will you have refused to be humbled before my face? Send my people, and let them serve me. ^4Because, if you are refusing to send my people, behold, tomorrow [10:I]am bringing the locust within your border. ^5And it will have covered the eye of the land, and one will not be able to see the land, and it will have eaten the remainder, the escapee, your left overs, from the hail. And it shall have eaten every tree that is growing for you in the field.”

^6And they will have filled your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all Egypt, as that your fathers and the fathers of your fathers have not seen, from the day of their being upon the soil until this day.’” Then he turned. Then he went out from with Phara̒ōh.

^7Then the servants of Phara̒ōh said unto him, “Until when will this be a snare to us? Send the men. Let them serve Yăhwēh their Almĭghty. Do you not yet know that Egypt has been destroyed?”

^8Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn were returned again unto Phara̒ōh. Then he said unto them, “Go, serve Yăhwēh your Almĭghty. Who and who are ţhe ones going?” ^9Then Mōshēh said, “With our young, and with our old, we will go; with our sons, and with our daughters, with our flocks, and with our herds, we will go, because it will be a feast of Yăhwēh for us.

^10Then he said unto them, “So may Yăhwēh be with you† if like that I will ever send you, and your children. Look out, because evil is before your faces. ^11Not so! Go please with the men, and serve Yăhwēh, because that is what you are seeking.” Then he caused them to be driven out from the face of Phara̒ōh.

^12Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Stretch your hand over the land of Egypt for ţhe locust, and let it come up upon the land of Egypt, and let it eat every plant of ţhe land, even all which ţhe hail has left.”

^13Then Mōshēh stretched his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yăhwēh caused an east wind to be driven on the land all that day, and all ţhe night; and ţhe daybreak had been, and the wind of ţhe east had carried ţhe locust. ^14Then ţhe locust went up over all the land of Egypt. Then it rested in all the borders of Egypt, very heavily. At its face, there had not been such locust like it. (And after it there will not be such.) ^15At that time, it covered the eye of all ţhe land. Then the land became dark. Then it ate every plant of the land, and all the fruit of ţhe trees which ţhe hail had left. And there had not been left any green on ţhe trees and on ţhe plants of the field, in all the land of Egypt.

^16Then Phara̒ōh made haste to call for Mōshēh and for A̓harōn. Then he said, “I have sinned against Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, and against you. ^17And now forgive please my sin surely this once, and pray to Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, and may only he turn away from upon me this death.”

^18Then he went out from with Phara̒ōh. Then he prayed unto Yăhwēh. ^19Then Yăhwēh turned about a very strong wind of the sea. Then it lifted ţhe locust. Then it blew it into the †End Sea. There had not been left one locust in all the border of Egypt.

^20Then Yăhwēh strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh, and he did not send the sons of Yisra’ēl. ^21Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Stretch your hand over ţhe heavens, and let there be darkness over the land of Egypt, and let it feel the darkness.”

^22Then Mōshēh stretched his hand over ţhe heavens. Then there was a murky darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. ^23A man had not seen his brother. A man had not risen from his place three days, and for all the sons of Yisra’ēl there had been light in their settlements.

^24Then Phara̒ōh called unto Mōshēh. Then he said, “Go, serve Yăhwēh. Only let your flocks and your herds be left in place. And your children may go with you.” ^25Then Mōshēh said, “Also you must give into our hands sacrifices and ascending-offerings, and we will have made them to Yăhwēh our Almĭghty. ^26And also, our cattle will go with us. Not a hoof will be left, because from it we must take an offering to serve Yăhwēh our Almĭghty, and we, we will not know how we must serve Yăhwēh, until we come unto there.”

^27Then Yăhwēh strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh, and he had not been willing to send them. ^28Then Phara̒ōh said to him, “Go from over me, watch yourself for yourself. You may not again see my face, because in the day you see my face you shall die.”

^29Then Mōshēh said, “Thus you have spoken. I will not come again to see your face.”

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Yet one plague more I will bring upon Phara̒ōh, and upon Egypt. After such he will send you from here. As he sends you, driving he shall drive you from here completely. ^11:2Speak please in the ears of the people, and let them ask, each man from his neighbor, and each woman from her neighbor, articles of silver, and articles of gold.”

^3Then Yăhwēh gave the people favor in the eyes of Egypt. Also the man Mōshēh was very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of Phara̒ōh’s servants, and in the eyes of the people.

^4Then Mōshēh †said, “Thus has said Yăhwēh, ‘About the middle of the night I am going out in the midst of Egypt. ^5And will have died all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Phara̒ōh, the one sitting upon his throne, onward to the firstborn of the maid-servant which is behind the mill, and all the firstborn of cattle. ^6And there will have been a great cry in all the land of Egypt, that the like of it has not been, and the like of it will not be again. ^7And at any of the sons of Yisra’ēl not a dog will sharpen his tongue, at man onward to beast, so that you may certainly know that Yăhwēh will distinguish between Egypt and between Yisra’ēl. ^8And they shall come down, all these, your servants, unto me, and they will bow down themselves to me, saying, “Get you out, and all the people which are at your feet,” and after such, I will go out.’” Then he went out from with Phara̒ōh in burning anger.

^9Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Phara̒ōh will not listen unto you, so that my wonders multiply in the land of Egypt.

^10And Mōshēh and A̓harōn had done all these wonders in the face of Phara̒ōh. Then Yăhwēh strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh, and he had not sent the sons of Yisra’ēl out of his land.

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh and unto A̓harōn in the land of Egypt, saying, ^12:2“This month for you, is the head of months. It is headmost for you, of the months of the year.† ^3Speak unto all the congregation of Yisra’ēl, saying, ‘On the tenth† of this month, then they shall take, each man for themselves a lamb, one for the house of each of the fathers, a lamb for the house.’

^4‘And if the house will be too small for there to be one from the sheep, then it and its nearest neighbor will have taken one lamb unto its house according to the computation of souls. Each man according to the mouth of his eating, you will number concerning the sheep.’

^5‘A perfect male flock animal, the son of a year, it will be for you. From the sheep and from the goats you will take it.’

^6‘And it will have been for you to watch it until the fourteenth day of this month. And they will have killed it, all the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’ēl, †between the settings.’

^7‘And they will have taken from the blood, and they will have put it upon the two doorposts and upon the lintel, upon the houses which they will eat it in.’†

^8‘And they will have eaten the flesh that night, roasted with fire. And with unleavened bread with† bitter herbs they shall eat it.’‡

^9‘You shall not eat any from it raw or boiled by being boiled in water, but rather roasted with[12:³]fire, its head with its legs and with its innards.’

^10‘And you shall not let remain any from it until daybreak, and the remains of it, until daybreak, in the fire you shall have burned.’

^11‘And this way, you shall eat it: with your hips girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and you will have eaten it in haste. It is the Passover for Yăhwēh.’

^12‘And I will have passed over in the land of Egypt on that night, and I will have struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from man, and unto beast. And on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments. I am Yăhwēh.’

^13‘And the blood will have been a sign for you upon the houses where you live. And I will have seen the blood, and I will have passed over you, and no plague will come on you to destroy you when I strike in the land of Egypt.’

^14‘And this day will have become a remembrance† for you, and you will have feasted on it a feast to Yăhwēh. For your generations you will feast on it as an everlasting statute.’

^15‘Seven days you will eat unleavened bread, but on the day previous† you shall make Sabbath leavening from your houses.‡ For if anyone is eating leavened bread, then that soul will have been cut off from Yisra’ēl, from the first day until the seventh day.’

^16‘And on the first day a holy †convocation, and on the seventh day a holy convocation will be for you. You will not do any work on them, but what will be eaten by every soul. That by itself may be prepared for you.’

^17‘And you will have kept unleavened bread, because on this very day I will have brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt. And you will have kept this day by your generations as an everlasting statute.’

^18‘In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at the setting, you will eat unleavened things, until the one and twentieth day of the month at the setting.’†

^19‘Seven days leavening will be not be found in your houses, because anyone eating what is made to be leavened, then that soul will have been cut off from the congregation of Yisra’ēl, among the sojourners and among the natives of the land.’

^20‘Anything made to be leavened you will not eat. In all your settlements you will eat unleavened bread.’”

^21Then Mōshēh called for all the elders of Yisra’ēl. Then he said unto them, “Draw out and take for yourselves sheep according to your families, and slay the Passover. ^22And you will have taken a bunch of hyssop, and you will have dipped it in the blood which is in the basin, and you will have struck unto the lintel and unto the two doorposts, from the blood which is in the basin. And you, you will not go out, each, from the door of his house until the daybreak. ^23And Yăhwēh will have passed by to strike Egypt, and he will have seen the blood upon the lintel, and upon the two doorposts. And Yăhwēh will have passed over the door, and he will not allow the destruction to enter into your houses to strike you.”

^24“And you shall have kept this word as a statute for you and for your sons onward of time immemorial. ^25And it will have been when you will enter unto the land which Yăhwēh will give to you, as that he has spoken, then you will have kept this service. ^26And it will have been that your sons will say unto you, ‘What is this service to you?’ ^27And you shall have said, ‘It is the sacrifice of Passover to Yăhwēh in that he had passed over the houses of the sons of Yisra’ēl in Egypt in his striking of Egypt, and he had delivered our houses.’”

^28aThen the people bowed down and worshiped. ^28bThen they went. Then the sons of Yisra’ēl did so. As that Yăhwēh had commanded Mōshēh and A̓harōn, so they had done

^29Then it was in the middle of the night, and Yăhwēh had struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Phara̒ōh, who was sitting upon his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the house of the pit and all the firstborn of cattle. ^30Then Phara̒ōh rose up at night, he, and all his servants, and all Egypt. Then there was a great cry in Egypt, because there was no house where no one had died. ^31Then he called to Mōshēh and to A̓harōn by night. Then he said, “Rise up, go out from among my people, also you, also the sons of Yisra’ēl, and go, serve Yăhwēh, as you have said. ^32Also your flocks, also your cattle, as that you have said, and be gone, and you will have blessed me also.

^33Then Egypt prevailed upon the people to hurry, to send them out of the land, because they had said, “All of us are dead.”

^34Then the people carried its dough before it became leavened, their kneading-bowls being bound in their cloaks upon their shoulders. ^35And the sons of Yisra’ēl had done according to the word of Mōshēh. Then they asked from Egypt for articles of silver, and articles of gold, and garments. ^36And Yăhwēh had given the people favor in the eyes of Egypt. Then they made them ask. Then they caused Egypt to be plundered. ^37Then the sons of Yisra’ēl pulled out from Ra̒mesēs toward Sukkot, about six hundred thousand on foot that were strong men, separate from children.

^38And also a mixed multitude had gone up with them, and flocks, and cattle, a very heavy number of livestock.

^39Then they baked the dough, which they had brought out from Egypt, into flat unleavened round cakes because it had not become leavened, because they had been driven from Egypt, and they were not able to delay themselves, and also they had not made provision for themselves.

^40And the sojourn of the sons of Yisra’ēl† (who had dwelled in Egypt) was thirty years and four hundred years. ^41Then it was at the end of thirty years and four hundred years. Then it was on this very same day that all the hosts of Yăhwēh had gone out from the land of Egypt.

^42A night watch it is for Yăhwēh for bringing them out from the land of Egypt. This night, it is for Yăhwēh, a watch for all the sons of Yisra’ēl by their generations.†

^43Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh and A̓harōn, “This is the ordinance of the Passover: any son of a foreigner shall not eat of it; ^44And if any is a servant of a man, a purchase of silver, then you will have circumcised him. Then he shall eat of it. ^45A temporary sojourner† and a hired man shall not eat of it. ^46In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not make any go forth from the house, from the flesh, outside. And a bone you will not break of it. ^47All the congregation† of Yisra’ēl shall keep it. ^48And when a stranger shall sojourn with you, then he will have kept the Passover to Yăhwēh being circumcised, and every male belonging to him. And at that time, he will come near to do it. And he will have been as the native† of the land, and if any is uncircumcised, he will not eat of it.

^49One Law‡ shall be for the native, and for the sojourner, the one sojourning in the midst of you.

^50Therefore did all the sons of Yisra’ēl. As that Yăhwēh had commanded Mōshēh and A̓harōn, so they had done. ^51Therefore, it was in that very day, that Yăhwēh had brought the sons of Yisra’ēl out of the land of Egypt according to their hosts.

Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh, saying, ^13:2“Make to be specially set apart unto me all the firstborn, the opener of every womb among the sons of Yisra’ēl, of man and of beast: to me it belongs.”

^3Then Mōshēh said unto the people, “Remember this day, that you have gone out from Egypt, out of the house of slaves, because by a strong hand Yăhwēh has brought you out from this place. And no leavened bread may be eaten.

^4This day you are going forth in the month the †A̓v̱i̱v̱.

^5And it will have been, when Yăhwēh will bring you into the land of the Kena‘ani̱, and the Ḥitti̱, and the E̓mōri̱, and the Ḥivvi̱, and the Yevūsi̱, which he swore himself to your fathers to give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, then you will have kept this service in this month.

^6Seven days you will eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Yăhwēh. ^7Unleavened bread shall be eaten a seven of the days. And no leavened bread† may be seen belonging to you, and no leavening‡ may be seen belonging to you in all your border.

^8And you will have declared to your son in that day, saying, “On account is this of what Yăhwēh had done for me in my going forth from Egypt.”

^9And it will have been to you as a sign upon your hand, and as a memorial between your eyes, in order that the law of Yăhwēh may be in your mouth, because with a strong hand Yăhwēh has brought you out of Egypt.

^10And you will have kept this statute at its appointed time from days to days.†

^11And it will have been, when Yăhwēh will bring you into the land of the Kena‘ani̱, as that he has sworn himself to you and to your fathers, and he will have given it to you, ^12then you will have made pass by for Yăhwēh every opener of the womb, and every opener of the young of a beast which will come to you. The males belong to Yăhwēh. ^13And every opener of an donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you will have broken its neck: and all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.

^14And it have been, when your son will ask you in the day after saying, “What is this?” then you will have said unto him, “By strength of hand Yăhwēh made us go out from Egypt, from the house of slaves: ^15Then it was, when Phara̒ōh had made it hard to send us, then Yăhwēh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man, and onward the firstborn of beast. Consequently, I am sacrificing to Yăhwēh every opener of the womb of the males. And all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.

^16And it will have been as a sign upon your hand, and as circlets† between your eyes, because by strength of hand Yăhwēh had made us go forth from Egypt.

^17Then it was, in Phara̒ōh’s sending the people, that the Almĭghty had not led them in the way of the land of the Pelishti̱m, though it was near, because the Almĭghty had said, “Lest the people be sorry in their seeing war, and they will have turned toward Egypt:”

^18Then the Almĭghty turned the people around, by the way of the wilderness by the End Sea: and the sons of Yisra’ēl had gone up in battle fives from the land of Egypt. ^19Then Mōshēh took the bones of Yōsēf with him, because making sworn, he had made sworn the sons of Yisra’ēl, saying, “The Almĭghty attending he will attend you; and you will have made go up my bones from here with you.” ^20Then they pulled up from Sūkkōt. Then they encamped in Ē̓tʰam, at the edge of the wilderness. ^21And Yăhwēh was going before their faces by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give light to them, to walk by day and by night: ^22He did not remove the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, before the faces of the people.

Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh, saying, ^14:2“Speak unto the sons of Yisra’ēl. And let them turn back and let them encamp at the face of Pi̱ Haḥi̱rōtʰ, between Migdōl and between the sea, at the face of Ba‘al Tsephōn. In front of it you shall camp by the sea. ^3And Phara̒ōh has said concerning the sons of Yisra’ēl, ‘They are confused in the land; the wilderness has shut upon them.’ ^4And I have strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh, and he has pursued after them. And I will be glorified by Phara̒ōh, and by all his army. And Egypt will have known that I am Yăhwēh.” Then they did so.

^5Therefore when it was told to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, then the heart of Phara̒ōh and his servants changed itself towards the people. Then they said, “What is this we have done, that we have sent Yisra’ēl from serving us?” ^6Then he harnessed his chariot, and his people he had taken with him. ^7Then, he took six hundred chosen chariots, and every the chariot of Egypt, and three rankers† over all of them.

^8Then Yăhwēh strengthened the heart of Phara̒ōh king of Egypt.† Then he pursued after the sons of Yisra’ēl, and the sons of Yisra’ēl were going out with a high hand.‡ ^9Then Egypt kept pursuing after them. Then they reached them camping by the sea, with every horse and chariot of Phara̒ōh and his horsemen, and his army upon Pi̱ Haḥi̱rōtʰ at the face of Ba‘al Tsephōn. ^10And Phara̒ōh had come near. Then the sons of Yisra’ēl lifted up their eyes, and, behold, Egypt was pulling out after them.† Then they feared greatly. Then the sons of Yisra’ēl cried out unto Yăhwēh.

^11Then they said unto Mōshēh, “Is it from overuse that no tombs are in Egypt, that you have taken us to die in the wilderness? What is this you have done to us, to make us go out from Egypt? ^12Is not this the word which we had spoken unto you in Egypt, saying, ‘Desist from us, and let us serve Egypt?’ Because it was better for us to serve Egypt, than our dying in the wilderness.”

^13Then Mōshēh said unto the people, “May you not fear! Station yourselves, and see the salvation of Yăhwēh, which he will work for you today, because in that you have seen Egypt today, you will not repeat to see them again onward time immemorial. ^14Yăhwēh will fight for you, and you shall be dumbfounded.”†

^15Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Why do you cry unto me?† Speak unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, and let them pull out. ^16And you, raise your rod, and stretch your hand over the sea, and break it. Then the sons of Yisra’ēl shall go in the midst of the sea on dry ground. ^17And I, behold, I am making to be strong the heart of Egypt. Then they shall enter after them. And I will be glorified in Phara̒ōh, and in all his army, in his chariots, and in his horsemen. ^18And Egypt will have known that I am Yăhwēh, in my being glorified in Phara̒ōh, in his chariots, and in his horsemen.

^19Then the Messenger of the Almĭghty, who was going at the face of the formation‡ of Yisra’ēl, pulled out. Then He went behind them. Then the pillar of cloud pulled out from before their faces, then it stood behind them.† ^20Then, He came between the formation of Egypt and between the formation of Yisra’ēl. Then, there was the cloud and the darkness. Then, He lighted the night. (And the one formation had not come near unto the other formation all the night.)

^21Therefore when, Mōshēh stretched his hand over the sea, then Yăhwēh made the sea to go back in a strong wind of the east all the night. Then, he made the sea floor dry land. Then, the waters were broken apart. ^22Then, the sons of Yisra’ēl entered in the midst of the sea on the dry ground. And the waters were a wall to them from their right hand, and from their left. ^23Then Egypt continued pursuing. Then, they entered after them, every horse of Phara̒ōh, his chariot, and his horsemen into the midst of the sea.

^24Then it was in the watch of the daybreak.† Then Yăhwēh looked down into the formation of Egypt in the pillar of fire and of cloud. Then he vexed the formation of Egypt. ^25Then, he took off the wheels of his chariots. Then, he made him to be driving with a heaviness. Then Egypt said, “Let me flee from the face of Yisra’ēl, because Yăhwēh is fighting for them against Egypt.”

^26Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Stretch your hand over the sea. Then the waters will return, upon Egypt, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.” ^27Then Mōshēh stretched his hand over the sea. Then the sea returned at the turning of daybreak to its normal flowing. And Egypt was fleeing a meeting with it. Then Yăhwēh caused Egypt to be shaken† up in the midst of the sea.

^28Therefore when the waters returned, then they made to be covered the chariots, and the horsemen, of all the army of Phara̒ōh, those entering after them in the sea. Then there had remained among them not as much as one. ^29And the sons of Yisra’ēl had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them from their right, and from their left.

^30Therefore, Yăhwēh saved Yisra’ēl on that day out of the hand of Egypt. Then Yisra’ēl saw Egypt dead upon the lip of the sea.

^31Therefore, when Yisra’ēl saw the great hand with which Yăhwēh had acted against Egypt, then the people feared Yăhwēh. Then they put their support‡ in Yăhwēh, and in Mōshēh, his servant.

ATthat time Mōshēh and the sons of Yisra’ēl sang this song to Yăhwēh. Then they said, saying, “Let me sing to Yăhwēh, because being exalted, he has been exalted. The horse and his rider he has cast in the sea. ^15:2Yăh is my strength and song. Therefore, he will be to me salvation. This is my Gŏd, and I will glorify him, Almĭghty of my father, ³therefore, I will greatly exalt him. ^3Yăhwēh is a man of war. Yăhwēh is his name. ^4The chariots of Phara̒ōh and his army has he plunged into the sea, and his chosen three rankers have been sunk in End Sea. ^5The deeps cover them. They have gone down in the depths like a stone. ^6Your right hand, Yăhwēh, is glorious in power. Your right hand, Yăhwēh, shatters the enemy. ^7And in the greatness of your exaltation, you throw down those rising against you. You send out your anger. It will eat them as stubble. ^8And with the wind of your nostrils the waters had been piled up. The current flows had been stood up as a heap. The deeps had been stiffened in the heart of the sea. ^9The enemy had said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide spoil. My soul shall be filled with them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall dispossess them.’

^10You have blown with your wind. The sea has covered them. They have sunk as lead in the majestic waters. ^11Who is like you among the gods Yăhwēh? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, feared in praises, doing wonders? ^12You have stretched out your right hand; the earth swallowed them. ^13You have led in your lovingkindness this people. You have redeemed them. You will have guided† them in your strength unto your holy habitation. ^14The peoples have heard. They tremble! Anguish has seized the inhabitants of Pelashet. ^15Therefore, the chiefs of E̓dōm have been dismayed, the mighty men of Mō̓av̱. Trembling seizes them. All the inhabitants of Kena‘an have melted.

^16Terror and dread falls upon them. By the greatness of your arm they are as silent as a stone until your people pass over, Yăhwēh, onward when this people pass over that you have purchased. ^17You will bring them, and you will plant them on the mountain of your inheritance, the pad of your dwelling which you have made Yăhwēh, the holy place, A̓dŏnai, which your hands have established. ^18Yăhwēh will reign unto time immemorial and onward.”†

^19For the horses of Phara̒ōh had entered with his chariot, and with his horsemen, into the sea. Then Yăhwēh returned upon them the waters of the sea. And the sons of Yisra’ēl had walked on the dry land in the midst of the sea.

^20Then Miryam the prophetess, the sister of A̓harōn, took a tambourine in her hand. Then all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. ^21Then Miryam responded to them, “Sing to Yăhwēh, because being exalted, he has been exalted. The horse and his rider has he hurled into the sea.”

^22Then Mōshēh pulled Yisra’ēl up from the End Sea. Then they went forth unto the wilderness of Shūr. Then they walked three days in the wilderness, and they had found no water. ^23Then they came to Marah, and they had not been able drink of the waters from Marah, because they were bitter. Consequently, the name of it has been called Marah.

^24Then the people were being complainers against Mōshēh, saying, “What will we drink?” ^25Then he cried out unto Yăhwēh. Then Yăhwēh shot him a tree. Then he cast it into the waters. Then the waters were sweetened. There he had made for it[15:³]a prescription and a judgment, and there he had caused it to be tested.‡

^26Then he said, “If listening you will listen to the voice of Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, and you will do the right thing in his eyes, and you will have given ear to his commandments, and you will have kept all his prescriptions, then all the disease, which I have put on Egypt, I will not put upon you, because I am Yăhwēh your healer.”

^27Then they came to Ē̓lim, and there were two and ten springs of waters, and seventy palms. Then they encamped there by the waters.

Then they pulled up from Ē̓lim. Then came all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’ēl unto the wilderness of Si̱n, which is between Ē̓lim and between Si̱nai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.†

^16:2Then all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’ēl lodged a complaint against Mōshēh and against A̓harōn in the wilderness. ^3Then the sons of Yisra’ēl said unto them, “Who† can give us death by the hand of Yăhwēh in the land of Egypt, when we sat over the flesh pot, when we ate bread to the full, because you have made us go out unto this wilderness to kill[16:³]all this congregation with hunger!”‡

^4Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Behold, I am making it rain for you, bread from the heavens. And the people will have gone out, and they will have gathered the quota‡ day by day of it, so that I may test it, whether it will walk in my law, or if not.† ^5And it will have been on the sixth day, then they will have prepared that which they will bring in, and it will have been double over what they will gather day by day.”

^6Then Mōshēh and A̓harōn said unto all the sons of Yisra’ēl, “At setting, then you will have known that Yăhwēh has brought you out from the land of Egypt. ^7And at daybreak, then you will have seen the glory of Yăhwēh. Since when He hears your lodgings against Yăhwēh, then what are we, that you are being complainers against us?”

^8Then Mōshēh said, “In Yăhwēh’s giving to you at the setting flesh to eat, and bread at the daybreak to the full, because of† Yăhwēh’s listening to your lodged complaints which you are lodging against Him, (and what are we?) your complaints are not against us, but against Yăhwēh.”

^9Then Mōshēh said unto A̓harōn, “Say unto all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’ēl, ‘Come near before the face of Yăhwēh, because he has heard your complaints. ^10Then it was, as A̓harōn spoke unto all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’ēl, then they turned toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Yăhwēh had been seen in the cloud.

^11Then Yăhwēh spoke unto Mōshēh, saying, ^12“I have heard the complaints of the sons of Yisra’ēl. Speak unto them, saying, ‘Between the settings you will eat flesh, and in the daybreak you shall be filled with bread. And you will have known that I am Yăhwēh your Almĭghty.

^13Then it was in the setting, then the quail came up, then it covered the camp. And in the daybreak, a coating of dew had been round about the camp. ^14Then the coating of dew went up, and behold, upon the face of the wilderness a thin wafer, being made to be scale thin, like hoarfrost upon the ground. ^15Then the sons of Yisra’ēl saw it. Then they said each man to his brother, “What is it?”† because they had not known what it was. Then Mōshēh said unto them, “It† is the bread which Yăhwēh has given to you to eat.”

^16“This is the Word† which Yăhwēh has made to be commanded, “Gather from it each man according to the mouth of his eating, an ō̒mer to the ‡head, according to the number of your souls, each man for whoever is in his tent, he shall take it.”

^17Then the sons of Yisra’ēl did so. They they gathered, the one making much, the other making little. ^18Then they measured it with the ō̒mer. And had not made it left over, the one making much. And the one making little had not make it lack. Each man, according to the mouth of his eating, had gathered

^19Then Mōshēh said unto them, “Let no man leave from it until daybreak.” ^20And they had not listened unto Mōshēh. Therefore when some men left from it until daybreak, then it rotted worms. Therefore when it stunk, then Mōshēh was angry with them. ^21Then they gathered it in the daybreak, and in the daybreak, each man according to the mouth of his eating. And the sun grew hot, and it had melted.

^22Then it was, on the sixth day they had gathered double bread, two ō̒mers to one person. Then all the rulers of the congregation came. Then they told Mōshēh.

^23Then he said unto them, “It is that which Yăhwēh has spoken.‡ Tomorrow is a complete rest of holy rest to Yăhwēh. That which you will bake, bake. And that which you will boil, boil. And all the left over, make to rest for yourselves, to keep onward the daybreak. ^24Then they let it lay onward the daybreak, as that Mōshēh has made to be commanded. And it had not stunk, and a worm had not been in it.

^25Then Mōshēh said, “Eat it today, because a rest is today to Yăhwēh. Today you shall not find it in the field. ^26Six days you may gather it, and on the seventh day is a rest. None will be in it.”

^27Then it was on the seventh day, some had gone out from the people to gather, and they had found none. ^28Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Until when will you have refused to keep my commandments and my laws? ^29See, since Yăhwēh has given to you the rest, consequently he is giving to you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Remain each man in his place. Let no man go out from his place on the seventh day. ^30Therefore, the people rested on the seventh day.

^31Then the house of Yisra’ēl called the name of it †mǎn. And it was like coriander seed, white. And the taste of it was like a wafer with honey.

^32(Therefore, Mōshēh said, “This is the word which Yăhwēh has made to be commanded, ‘Fill an omer from it for keeping by your generations, so that they may see the bread which I had made you eat in the wilderness, in my bringing you forth from the land of Egypt.’” ^33Then Mōshēh said unto A̓harōn, “Take one container, and put in there a full ō̒mer of mǎn. And make it rest at the face of Yăhwēh, for keeping by your generations.” ^34As that Yăhwēh had commanded unto Mōshēh, then A̓harōn made it rest at the face of the Testimony, for keeping.

^35And the sons of Yisra’ēl had eaten the mǎn forty years, until their coming unto a land being inhabited. The mǎn they had eaten, until their coming unto the borders of the land of Kena‘an. ^36And the ō̒mer, the tenth part of the ēphah it is.)‡

Then all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’ēl pulled up from the wilderness of Si̱n, by their †pulling ups, according to the mouth of Yăhwēh. Then they encamped in Rephi̱di̱m, and there was no water to drink for the people. ^17:2Then the people contended with Mōshēh. Then they said, “Give to us water, and let us drink.” Then Mōshēh said to them, “Why do you contend with me? Why do you test Yăhwēh?”

^3Therefore when, the people thirsted there for water, then the people lodged a complaint against Mōshēh. Then it said, “For what is this? You have brought us up from Egypt, to kill me and my sons and my cattle with thirst?”

^4Then Mōshēh cried unto Yăhwēh, saying, “What will I do for this people? In yet a little bit, and they will have stoned me.”

^5Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Pass by at the face of the people, and take with you some from the elders of Yisra’ēl. And your rod, which you have struck on the river, take in your hand, and you will have gone. ^6Behold, I am standing before your face there upon the rock in Ḥōrēv̱. And you will have struck on the rock, and there will have gone out water from it. And the people will have drunk.” Then Mōshēh did so before the eyes of the elders of Yisra’ēl.

^7Then he called the name of the place Massah, and Meri̱v̱ah, over the contention of the sons of Yisra’ēl, and over their testing Yăhwēh, saying, “Is Yăhwēh in the midst of us, or not?”

^8Then came A̒malēq. Then he made war against Yisra’ēl in Rephi̱di̱m. ^9Then Mōshēh said unto Yehōshūa̒, “Choose for us men, and go out, make war against A̒malēq. Tomorrow I am stationing myself upon the head of the hill, and the rod of the Almĭghty in my hand. ^10Then Yehōshūa̒ did as that Mōshēh had said to him, to make war against A̒malēq. And Mōshēh, A̓harōn, and Ḥūr had gone up the head of the hill. ^11And it had been, as that Mōshēh made high his hand, then Yisra’ēl had been valiant, and as that he made rest his hand, then A̒malēq had been valiant.

^12And the hands of Mōshēh were heavy. Therefore, they took a stone, then they set it under him. Then he sat upon it. And A̓harōn and Ḥūr grasped on his hands, one on one side, and one on the other side.† Then it was his hands were supported‡ until the going down of the sun.

^13Therefore, Yehōshūa̒ prostrated A̒malēq and his people with the mouth of the sword.

^14Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Write this as a memorial in a scroll, and put it in the ears of Yehōshūa̒, that blotting out, I will blot out the remembrance of A̒malēq from under heaven.” ^15Then Mōshēh built an altar. Then he proclaimed His name “Yăhwēh my banner.”‡ ^16Then he said, “Because his hand was against the throne of Yăh, the war of Yăhwēh is on A̒malēq from generation to generation.”

Then Yitʰrō, the priest of Midyan, Mōshēh’s in-law, heard all which the Almĭghty had done for Mōshēh, and for Yisra’ēl his people, because Yăhwēh had brought Yisra’ēl out of Egypt. ^18:2Then Yitʰrō, Mōshēh’s in-law, took Tzippōrah, Mōshēh’s wife, after her being sent for, ^3and her two sons, of whom the name of the one was Gērshōm, because he had said, “A sojourner I have been in a foreign land,” ^4and the name of the other was E̓li̱‘ezer, “because the Almĭghty of my father, in helping me, then he delivered me from the sword of Phara̒ōh.”

^5Then Yitʰrō, Mōshēh’s in-law, came, and his sons, and his wife unto Mōshēh, unto the wilderness which he was camping at, the mountain country† of the Almĭghty. ^6Then one said unto Mōshēh, “Behold,† your in-law Yitʰrō, is coming unto you, and your wife, and her two sons with her.” ^7Then Mōshēh went out to call on his in-law. Then he bowed himself. Then he kissed him. Then they asked each man about his fellow, about his welfare. Then they came into the tent.

^8Then Mōshēh recounted to his in-law all which Yăhwēh had done to Phara̒ōh and to Egypt on Yisra’ēl’s account, all the travail which had found them on the way. Then Yăhwēh delivered them. ^9Then Yitʰrō rejoiced over all the good which Yăhwēh had done for Yisra’ēl, in that he had delivered him out of the hand of Egypt.

^10Then Yitʰrō said, “Blessed be Yăhwēh, who has delivered you from the hand of Egypt, and from the hand of Phara̒ōh, who has delivered the people from under the hand of Egypt. ^11Now I have been knowing that Yăhwēh is greater than all gods. Yea, in the matter which they have dealt proudly against them.”

^12Then Yitʰrō, Mōshēh’s in-law, took an ascending-offering and sacrifices for the Almĭghty. Then A̓harōn came, and all the elders of Yisra’ēl, to eat bread with Mōshēh’s in-law before the face of the Almĭghty.

^13Then it was in the day after, then Mōshēh sat to judge the people. Then the people stood about Mōshēh from the daybreak unto the setting. ^14Then when Mōshēh’s in-law saw all which he was doing for the people, then he said, “What is this thing which you are doing for the people? For what reason are you sitting yourself alone, and all the people are standing about you from daybreak unto setting?”

^15Then Mōshēh said to his in-law, “Because the people come unto me to inquire of the Almĭghty. ^16When there will be a matter for them, it is coming unto me, then I will have judged between a man and his neighbor, and I will have made known the statutes of the Almĭghty, and his instructions.”

^17Then Mōshēh’s in-law said unto him, “The thing which you are doing is not good. ^18Wearing down you will wear down, even you, even this people which is with you, because the thing is heavier than you. You will not be able to perform it yourself alone. ^19Now listen to my voice. Let me give you counsel, and let the Almĭghty be with you. Be yourself for the people in front of the Almĭghty, and you will have brought yourself the matters unto the Almĭghty. ^20And you will have taught them the statutes and the instructions, and you will have made known to them the way they should walk in, and the work which they must do. ^21And you shall observe out of all the people able men, fearers of the Almĭghty, men of truth, haters of unjust gain, and you will have set over them, to be officials of thousands, officials of hundreds, officials of fifties, and officials of tens. ^22And they will have judged the people at all times, and it will have been, that every great matter they will bring unto you, and every small matter they shall judge themselves, and make light from on you the weight, and they shall have carried the weight with you. ^23If you will do this thing, and the Almĭghty will have commanded you, then you shall have been able to stand, and also all this people shall go to its place in peace.”

^24Then Mōshēh listened to the voice of his in-law. Then he did all which he had said. ^25Then Mōshēh chose able men out of all Yisra’ēl. Then he made them heads over the people, officials of thousands, officials of hundreds, officials of fifties, and officials of tens. ^26And they had judged the people at all times. The hard matters they brought unto Mōshēh, and every small matter they judged themselves. ^27Then Mōshēh sent his in-law away. Then he went for himself unto his land.

INthe third new moon† of the going out sons of Yisra’ēl from the land of Egypt, in that day, they had entered the wilderness of Si̱nai.

^19:2Therefore when they pulled up from Rephi̱di̱m, then they entered the wilderness of Si̱nai. Then they camped in the wilderness.† Then Yisra’ēl encamped there in front of the mountain.

^3And Mōshēh had ascended unto the Almĭghty. Then Yăhwēh called unto him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you will say to the house of Ya‘aqōv̱, and you will declare to the sons of Yisra’ēl. ^4You have seen what I have done to Egypt. Then I carried you on wings of eagles. Then I made you come unto me. ^5And now, if listening you will listen to my voice, and you will have kept my covenant, then you will have become to me a possession from‡ all the peoples, because all the earth belongs to me. ^6And you, you will become to me a kingdom of †ministers, and a holy nation. These are the words which you will speak unto the sons of Yisra’ēl.”

^7Then Mōshēh came. Then he called for the elders of the people. Then he set before their faces all these words which Yăhwēh had commanded him. ^8Then all the people answered together. Then they said, “All that Yăhwēh has spoken we will do.” Then Mōshēh returned the words of the people unto Yăhwēh.

^9Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Behold, I am coming unto you in a thicket of cloud. As a result, the people may hear, in my speaking with you, and also they will put their support in you‡ to time immemorial.” Then Mōshēh told the words of the people unto Yăhwēh.

^10Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Go unto the people, and you will have made them to be holy, today and tomorrow.† And they will have washed their garments. ^11And they will have been ready for the third day, because on the third day Yăhwēh will descend before the eyes of all the people upon mount Si̱nai.”

^12“And you will have set bounds unto the people round about, saying, ‘Keep guard to yourselves, from going up on the mountain, and touching on the edge of it. Everyone touching the mount, death he must be made to die. ^13No hand shall touch on him, but stoned he will be stoned, or shot he will be shot, whether beast, whether man, he will not live.” “At the drawing out of the horn, they‡ may ascend on the mountain.’”

^14Then Mōshēh descended from the mountain unto the people. Then he made to be holy the people. Therefore, they made to be washed their garments. ^15Then he said unto the people, “Be readied for the third of the days. You may not draw near unto a woman.”

^16Then it was, on the third day, at the coming of daybreak, then there were thunders† and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mount, and the sound‡ of a very mighty trumpet. Then all the people trembled, that were in the camp.

^17Then Mōshēh brought forth the people to meet the Almĭghty from the camp. Then they stationed themselves at the base of the mountain. ^18And mount Si̱nai had smoked, the whole of it, from the face of he who had descended upon it, Yăhwēh, in the fire. Then the smoke of it ascended as the smoke of a kiln. Then all the mountain quaked exceedingly. ^19Then was the sound† of the trumpet going on, and very strongly. Mōshēh spoke, and the Almĭghty answered him with thunder.‡

^20Therefore when Yăhwēh descended upon mount Si̱nai, unto the head of the mountain, then Yăhwēh called Mōshēh unto the head of the mountain. Then Mōshēh ascended.

^21Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Descend, give warning against the people, lest they break forth unto Yăhwēh, to see, and many from it, will have fallen. ^22And also the priests, who are drawn near unto Yăhwēh, should make themselves to be holy, lest Yăhwēh should break forth upon them.”

^23Then Mōshēh said unto Yăhwēh, “The people are not able to ascend unto mount Si̱nai, because you have given warning on us, saying, “Make bounded the mountain. And you will have made it to be set apart.”

^24Then Yăhwēh said unto him, “Go, descend. And you will have ascended, you, and A̓harōn with you. And the priests and the people do not let them break through to ascend unto Yăhwēh, lest he should break forth upon them.”

^25Then Mōshēh descended unto the people. Then he said it unto them.

Then the Almĭghty spoke all these words, saying, ^20:2“I am Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves.”

^3“There may not be to you other gods in my face.”

^4“You may not make for yourself an idol, and any likeness which is in the heavens up above, and which is in the earth down below, and which is in the waters below the land.”

^5“You shall not bow yourself down to them, and you shall not serve them, because I Yăhwēh your Almĭghty am a jealous Gŏd, attending to the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third, and upon the fourth generation of those hating me,‡ ^6and doing loving kindness to a thousand generations, to those loving me, and to those keeping my commandments.”

^7“You may not carry the name of Yăhwēh your Almĭghty for nothing, because Yăhwēh will not acquit he that may bear his name worthlessly.”‡

^8“Remember the day of the rest, to make it to be set apart. ^9Six days you may labor, and will have done all your work. ^10And the seventh day is a rest to Yăhwēh your Almĭghty. You may not do any work, you, and your son, and your daughter, your man-servant, and your maid-servant, and your cattle, and your sojourner that is within your gates, ^11because six days Yăhwēh had fashioned the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them. Then he rested the seventh day. Consequently, Yăhwēh has made to be blessed the day of the rest. Therefore, he makes it to be set apart.”

^12Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the soil which Yăhwēh your Almĭghty is giving to you.”

^13“You may not murder.”

^14“You may not commit adultery.”

^15“You may not steal.”

^16“You may not answer against your neighbor as a false witness.”

^17“You may not desire the house of your neighbor. You may not desire the wife of your neighbor, and his man-servant, and his maid-servant, and his ox, and his donkey, and anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

^18And all the people were seeing the †voices, and the torches, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. Therefore when the people saw, then they shuddered. Then they stood afar off.

^19Then they said unto Mōshēh, “You speak with us, and let us hear. And may the Almĭghty not speak with us, lest we should die.” ^20Then Mōshēh said unto the people, “You should not fear, because with a goal to test you, the Almĭghty has come, and with the goal that the fear of him will come upon your faces, that you should sin not.”

^21Then the people stood afar off, and Mōshēh had drawn himself near unto the murkiness where the Almĭghty was.

^22Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Thus you will say unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, ‘You yourselves have seen that from the heavens I have spoken with you. ^23You may not make alongside me gods of silver. And gods of gold, you may not make for yourselves. ^24An altar of earth you may make for me, and you will have sacrificed upon it your ascending-offerings, and your peace-offerings, your sheep, and your cattle. In every place which I make remembered my name, I will come unto you and I will have made you to be blessed. ^25And if an altar of stones you may make me, you shall not build it of hewn stones. Since if you will have made swing your chisel upon it, then you will defile it. ^26And you may not ascend by steps upon mine altar, that your nakedness be not uncovered upon it.”

“And these are the judgments which you will set before their faces.”

^21:2“When you may buy a Hebrew man‡ servant, then six years he will serve, and in the seventh he will go out as the free man without †payment.”

^3“If he should come by himself, he will go out by himself. If he is husband of a †wife, then his wife will have gone out with him.”

^4“If his †Master should give him a wife, and she will have borne to him sons or daughters, then the wife and her children will belong‡ to her Master, and he will go out by himself.”

^5And if the servant saying, he will say, “I have been loving my master, my wife, and my sons. I will not go out free,” ^6then his Master will have drawn him near unto the ‡Almĭghty. And he will have drawn him near unto the door, or unto the doorpost, and his Master will have pierced his ear with an awl, and he will have served him for ever.”

^7“And when a man may sell his daughter as a †handmaid, she may not go out as the going out of the men-servants.”

^8“If she is an evil† one in the eyes of her Master, who has appointed her for himself, then he will have ‡ransomed her. To a foreign people he shall not grant dominion by selling her, in his faithlessness against her.” ^9“And if one will appoint her for his son, then he will treat her according to the rights of daughters.”

^10“If one will take for himself another wife, then her meat, her clothing, and her marriage rights, he may not diminish. ^11And if he will not do these three things for her, then she will have gone out for nothing, without silver.”†

^12“One striking a man, and he has died, death he will be made die. ^13And he who has not lain in wait, and the Almĭghty made to be a meeting of his hand, then I will have appointed for you a place which one may flee unto there. ^14And when a man will seethe with anger against his neighbor, to slay him with guile, even from next to my altar you shall take him to die.”

^15“And one striking his father, and his mother, death he will be made die.”

^16“And and one stealing a man, and he has sold him, and he has been found in his hand, death he will be made die.”

^17“And one cursing his father and his mother, death he will be made to die.”

^18“And when men may contend, and a man has struck his fellow with a stone, or with a fist, and he does not die, and he has fallen into bed, ^19if he will rise, and has walked about on the outside upon his staff, then the one striking will have been acquitted. Only he shall compensate his resting, and healing he will make him to be healed.” ^20“And when a man may strike his male servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he has died under his hand, being avenged he may be avenged. ^21However, if in a day or two days he will stand, he shall not be avenged, because he is his silver.”

^22And when men struggle among themselves, and one‡ has injured a pregnant woman, and her children have been made to go out, and there happens no harm, fined he will be fined, as that the husband of the woman will put upon him, and he will have compensated with the judges.† ^23And if harm† should happen, then you will have given soul for soul, ^24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, ^25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”

^26“And when a man strike the eye of his man servant, or the eye of his maid, and will have made it to be ruined, he shall send him out as free for his eye. ^27And if the tooth of his man servant or the tooth of his maid he will make to fall out, he will send him out as free for his tooth.”

^28“And when an ox may gore a man or a woman and he will have died, then the ox stoned he will be stoned, and its flesh will not be eaten, and the owner of the ox is acquitted. ^29And if the ox, a gorer he was yesterday and the third day before, and has been given warning against its Owner, and he will not guard it, and it has caused a man death, or a woman, the ox shall be stoned, and also its Owner will be made to die. ^30If a pardon† may be set upon him, then he will have given the ransom of his soul, according to all which may be set upon him. ^31Whether it may gore a son, or it may gore a daughter, according to this judgment it will be done to him.”

^32“If the ox gores a man-servant or a maid, there will be given to his Master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.”

^33“And when a man may open a pit, or when a man may dig a pit and he may not cause it to be covered, and an ox or a donkey has fallen thitherward, ^34then the owner of the pit shall make it to be repaid. He shall return silver to the Owner of it, and the dead beast will belong to him.”

^35“And when a man’s ox may strike the ox of his fellow, and it will have died, then they will have sold the living ox, and they will have divided its silver, and also the dead beast they will divide.”

^36“Or it has been known that the ox, a gorer he was, yesterday and the third day before, and its Owner will not guard it, then repaying, he will make to be repaid, an ox for the ox, and the dead beast will be for him.”

“When a man may steal an ox, or a sheep, and will have slaughtered it, or will have sold it, then he shall pay five cattle for the ox, and four sheep for a sheep.”

^22:2If while breaking in, the thief is found, and he has been struck, and he has died, there is no blood required for him. ^3If the sun has risen upon him, blood is required for him. But repaying he shall repay. If nothing belongs to him, then he will have been sold in exchange for his theft.

^4If being found, it shall be found, the theft in his hand alive, from an ox, even to a donkey, even to a sheep, twofold he will pay.

^5When a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be grazed, and he shall have made to be sent his beast, and it will have grazed in another field, then from the best of his field, and from the best of his vineyard, he shall make it to be repaid.

^6When fire may go forth, and it will have found thorns, and will have been eaten a stack, or the standing grain, or the field, then making be repaid, he will make be repaid, the one causing to burn the burning.

^7When a man shall give unto his fellow silver or articles to watch, and it will have been stolen out of the house of the man, then if the thief may be found, he shall make be repaid twofold.

^8If the thief should not be found, then the master of the house shall have been drawn near unto the Almĭghty, to see if he has not made to be sent his hand unto his neighbor’s property.

^9Over every matter of transgression, over an ox, over a donkey, over a sheep, over clothing, over anything lost, which one will say that, “This is it,” then up to the Almĭghty shall come the matter of the two of them. He which the Almĭghty will† make wicked will make be repaid twofold to his fellow.

^10When a man may give to his neighbor a donkey or ox or flock animal, or any beast to guard, and it has died or it has been broken, or it has been taken captive† unseen, ^11a swearing by Yăhwēh shall be between the two of them, to see whether or not he has sent his hand onto the property of his neighbor, and the owner of it will have received the oath, and he shall not make it to be whole. ^12And if stolen it was stolen from with him, he shall make it to be whole to its owner. ^13If tearing it was torn, he shall make come to him a witness of the torn flesh. He shall not make it to be whole.

^14And when a man may borrow from with his neighbor, and it has been broken, or it has died, the owner of it was not with him, then making to be whole he shall make it to be whole. ^15If the owner of it was with him, he shall not make it to be whole. If rented it was, compensation for it has come in its rental fee.

^16And when a man seduces a maiden that has not been betrothed, and he has lain with her, endowing he shall endow† her for himself as a wife. ^17If making be refused he will make it be refused, her father, to give her to him, silver he shall weigh out according to the endowment of a maiden. ^18A sorceress† you will not keep to be alive.

^19Everyone who lies with a beast, death he will be made die.

^20Anyone sacrificing to other gods will be made banned,† except to Yăhwēh, to only him you may sacrifice.

^21And a sojourner you shall not make oppressed, and you shall not press† him, because you had been sojourners in the land of Egypt.

^22Any widow and orphan you shall not make to be afflicted. ^23If making be afflicted you will make him to be afflicted, yea if crying out he will cry out unto me, then hearing I will hear his outcry, ^24and will have been kindled my anger. And I will have killed you with the sword. And your wives will have been widows, and your sons orphans.

^25If silver you will make lent with my people, with the poor with you, then you will not become to him as a money-lender. You will not set upon him any interest.

^26If binding you will bind the coat of your neighbour for collateral, you may keep it up to the coming in of the sun, then you will make it return to him, ^27because it is his only covering. It is his garment for his skin. In what will he lie down? And it will have been when he will cry out unto me, then I will have heard, because gracious I am.

^28The Almighty you may not make to be light of.† And the ruler‡ over your people you may not curse.

^29Your fullness of produce, and your weeping† you may not make to be delayed. The first-born of your sons you shall give to me. ^30Thus you will do for your ox, and for your flock animal. A seven of days it will be with its mother. On the eighth day you shall give it to me.

^30And men of holiness you all† shall be to me. And flesh in the field, being torn, you may not eat. To the dogs you all shall make it thrown.

You may not carry a false report. You shall not put your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious† witness. ^23:2You shall not just happen† to go after many to evil. And you shall not answer for many to bend after many to make to make justice bent. ^3And a poor man you shall not honor in his dispute.

^4When you may encounter the ox of your enemy, or his donkey wandering, making returned you shall make it returned to him. ^5When you see the donkey of one hating you laying down under its burden, then you will have ceased from leaving it to him, loosing you shall loose it with him.†

^6You shall not make bent the justice of your needy in his dispute.

^7From a false word you shall be far, and the innocent and righteous you shall not kill, because I will not make righteous the wicked. ^8A bribe you shall not take, because the bribe will make to be blind the sighted, and it will make to be perverted the words of the righteous.

^9And a sojourner you shall not oppress, and you have known the soul of the sojourner, because sojourners you have been in the land of Egypt.

^10And six years you shall sow your land, and you will have gathered the production of it. ^11And the seventh you shall let it drop, and you will have abandoned it, and the poor with you will have eaten it, and their remainder the wild animal of the field will eat. Thus you will do for your vineyard, for your olive tree.

^12Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day, you shall cease, so that your ox may rest, and your donkey. And shall refresh himself the son of your maidservant and the sojourner.

^13And in all which I have said unto you, you will watch yourselves, and the name of other gods, you shall not make remembered. It shall not be heard upon your mouth.

^14Three foot journeys you will feast to me in the year: ^15The feast of unleavened bread you shall keep a seven of the days. You shall eat unleavened bread as that I have made to be commanded, at the appointed time, in the month of A̕v̱i̱v̱, because in it you had gone out from Egypt, and my face will not be seen for nothing.† ^16And the feast of the harvest, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field; And the feast of the Ingathering in the going out† of the year, in your gathering your labors, from the field. ^17Tree times in the year every male of you will seeᵅ the face of the Lŏrd Yăhwēh.

^18You may not sacrifice the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, and not may lodge all night the fat of my feast until daybreak.

^19The first of the first fruits of your soil, you will make come into the house of Yăhwēh your Almĭghty. You may not make to be boiled a kid in the milk of its mother.

^20Behold, I am sending the Mĕssenger before your faces to guard you in the way, and to make you come unto the place which I have made prepared. ^21Be watchful from before his face, and listen to his voice. May you not make bitterness against him, because he will not bear† your transgressions, because my name is in the midst of him. ^22But if listening you will listen to his voice, and you will have done all which I have made to be spoken, then I will have been the enemy with your enemies, and I will have been hostile unto those showing you hostility, ^23because my Mĕssenger will go before your faces, and he will make you come unto the E̕mōri̱, and the Ḥitti̱, and the Perizzi̱, and the Kena‘ani̱, the Ḥiυυi̱, and the Yev̱ūsi̱, and I will have erased them.

^24You may not make yourselves to be bowing down to their gods, and you may not serve them, and you may not do according to their deeds, but making to be torn down, you will make them to be torn down, and making to be shattered, you will make to be shattered their pillars. ^25And you will have served Yăhwēh your Almĭghty, and he will have made to be blessed your bread, and your water, and I will have made turn aside sickness from your midst. ^26There will not be one making to be miscarried, and barren in your land. The number of your days I will make to be full. ^27The dread of me I will make to be sent before your faces, and I will have confused all the people which you will come among them, and I will have given all your enemies unto you by the neck. ^28And I will have sent the hornet before your face, and it will make to be driven out the Ḥiυυi̱, the Kena‘ani̱, and the Ḥitti̱ from before your faces. ^30Little by little I will drive it out from before your faces until when you will bear fruit, and you will have inherited the land.† ^31And I will have set your border from the End Sea even unto the Sea of the Pelishti̱m, and from the wilderness until the river, because I will give into your hand those inhabiting the land, and you will have made them to be driven out from before your faces.

^32You may not cut, for them and for their gods, a covenant. ^33They may not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me. When you serve their gods, is when it will be to you like a snare.

And unto Mōshēh he had said, “Ascend unto Yăhwēh, you and A̕harōn, Nadav̱ and A̕v̱i̱hū’, and the Seventy from the Elders of Yisra’ēl, and you will have made yourselves to be worshiping from afar.” ^24:2And Mōshēh alone will have drawn himself near unto Yăhwēh, and they shall not draw themselves near, and the people shall not ascend with him.

^3Then Mōshēh came. Then he recounted to the people all the words of Yăhwēh, and all the judgments. Then all the people replied with one voice. Then they said, “All the words which Yăhwēh has made to be spoken we will do.” ^4Then Mōshēh wrote all the words of Yăhwēh. Then he made to rise early in the daybreak. Then he built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Yisra’ēl. ^5Then he sent the young men of the sons of Yisra’ēl, and they made go up ascending offerings. Then they sacrificed sacrifices, well being offerings to Yăhwēh, bulls. ^6Then Mōshēh took half of the blood. Then he put it in bowls. And half of the blood he had tossed upon the altar. ^7Then he took the scroll of the covenant. Then he read it in the ears of the people. They they said, “All which Yăhwēh has made to be spoken, we will do, and we will hear!” ^8Then Mōshēh took the blood. Then he tossed it upon the people. Then he said, “Behold, the blood of the covenant, which Yăhwēh has cut with you, upon all these words.”

^9Then Mōshēh ascended, and A̕harōn, Nadav̱, and A̕v̱i̱hū’, and the Seventy from the elders of Yisra’ēl. ^10Then they saw the Almĭghty of Yisra’ēl. And under his feet, something like a work of paving of lapis lazuli,ᵅ and as the substance of the heavens inᵝ purity. ^11And against the nobles of the sons of Yisra’ēl he did not send forth his hand. ᵅThen, they sawᵝ the Almĭghty. Then, they ate. Then, they drank.

^12Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Ascend unto me to the mountain, and be there. And I want to give to you the tablets of ᵅstone, and the ᵝInstruction, and the commandment which I have written to instructᵞ them.” ^13Then Mōshēh rose up, and Yehōshūa̒, his minister. Then Mōshēh ascended unto the mountain of the Almĭghty. ^14And unto the elders he had said, “Remain for us here until when we may return unto you. And behold A̕harōn and Ḥūr are with you. Who ever is ownerᵅ of a ᵝcase, let him draw near unto them.”

^15Then Mōshēh ascended unto the mountain. Then the cloud made to be covered the mountain. ^16Then the glory of Yăhwēh settled upon mount Si̱nai̱. Then the cloud made to be covered it six days. Then he called unto Mōshēh on the seventh day from the midst of the cloud.‡ ^17And the appearance of the glory of Yăhwēh was as devouring fire on the top of the mountain before the eyes of the sons of Yisra’ēl. ^18Then Mōshēh came into the midst of the cloud. Then he ascended furtherᵅ unto the mount. Then Mōshēh was there on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Then, Yăhwēh made to be spoken unto Mōshēh saying, ^25:2“Make to be spoken unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, thatᵅ they shall take for me a ᵪcontribution. From with every man whose heart inclines him they shall take my contribution. ^3And this is the contribution which you shall take from with them, gold and silver, and bronze, ^4and blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, and finely interwoven linen and goat hair, ^5and skins of rams being made to be dyed red, and skins of ᵤporpoise, and acacia wood,ᵝ ^6oil for the light, spices for the oil of anointing, and for incense smoke of ᵅfragrances, ^7stones of onyxᵤ, and stones for settingᵪ for the ē̕phōd and for the ᵙḥōshen.

^8And they will have made for me a holy place, and I willᵅ have dwelled in the midst of them. ^9According to all which I am making you see, the blueprint of the dwelling, and the blueprint of every article of it, thus you will do.

^10And you will have made an Arkᵅ of acacia wood. Two cubitsᵝ and a half is the length of it. And a cubit and a half is the width of it. And a cubit and a half is the height of it. ^11And you will have made it to be overlaid with pure gold. On the insideᵅ and on the outside you shall make it to be overlaid. And you will have made upon it a crown-molding of gold round about. ^12And you will have cast for it four rings of gold, and you will have put themᵅ upon the four feet of it. And two of the rings shall be upon the one side of it, and two of the rings shall be upon the secondᵝ side of it.

^13And you will have made poles of acacia wood. And you will have made them to be overlaid with gold. ^14And you will have made come the poles into the rings upon the sides of the Ark to carry the Ark with them. ^15In the rings of the Ark, the poles shall be. They shall not be taken away from it.

^16And you will have put into the Ark the testimony which I will give unto you.

^17And you will have made a ḳappōretᵅ of pure gold. Two cubits and a half is the length of it. And a cubit and a half is the width of it.

^18And you will have made two kerūv̱i̱mᵅ of gold. Hammered work you will make them, at the two ends of the ḳappōret. ^19And make one kerūv̱ at oneᵅ end, and one kerūv̱ at the other end. From the ḳappōret you will make the kerūv̱i̱m upon the two ends of it. ^20And the kerūv̱i̱m will have been ones spreading out two wings upwards, covering with their wings over the ḳappōret. And their faces, each unto his brother, at† the ḳappōret, they will be, the faces of the kerūv̱i̱m.

^21And you will have put the ḳappōret upon the Ark, above, and into the Ark you will put the testimony which I will give unto you. ^22And I will have appointed myself to you there. And I will have made to be spoken with you from above the ḳappōret, from between the two kerūv̱i̱m, which are upon the Ark of the testimony, all which I will have made to be commanded you, unto the sons of Yisra’ēl.

^23And you will have made a table of acacia wood, two cubits is the length of it. And a cubit is the width of it. And a cubit and a half is the height of it. ^24And you will have made it to be overlaid with pure gold. And you will have made for it a crown-molding of gold, round about. ^25And you will have made for it a rimᵅ round about. And you will have made a crown-molding of gold for its rim, round about. ^26And you will have made for it four rings of gold. And you will have put the rings upon four of the edges which are for the four legsᵅ of it. ^27Near toᵅ the rim the rings will be, as housingsᵝ for the poles to carry the table. ^28And you will have made the poles from acacia wood. And you will have made them to be overlaid with gold, and the table will have been carried on them. ^29And you will have made its dishes and its pans and its jars and its bowls, which will be made poured drink offerings with them. Of pure gold you shall make them.

^30And you will have put upon the table the bread of the face before my face continually.

^31And you will have made a menōrahᵅ of pure gold. A beaten work you shall make the menōrah. Its base and its ᵞstalk, its cups, its ᵝcapitals, its flowers, from of itself shall be, ^32and six stalks going outᵅ from its side, three stalks of the menōrah from the one side of it, and three stalks of the menōrah from the second side of it, ^33three ᵝcups, being made to be almond-blossoms, in the first stalk, a capital, and flower; and three cups, being made to be almond-blossoms, in the nextᵅ stalk, a capital, and flower; and so on for six of the stalks, those made to go out from the menōrah. ^34And on the menōrahᵅ four cups, being made to be almond-blossoms, the captials of it, and the flowers of it, ^35and a capital under two of the stalks from of itself, and a capital under the next two stalks from of itself, and a capital under the last two stalks from of itself, for all six of the stalks going out from the menōrah. ^36Their capitals, and stalks from of itselfᵅ will be, all of it one beaten work of pure gold. ^37And you will have made its lampsᵅ seven. And he will have made its lamps go up, and he will have made light beyond the face of it. ^38And its ᵅsuffers, and its fire pansᵝ shall be of pure gold. ^39Of a talent of pure gold it will beᵅ made, along with all of these articles. ^40And observe, and make them by their blueprints, which you are being made to see on the mountain.

And the dwellingᵅ you shall make with ten ᵝcurtains, of finely interwoven linen, being made twisted, and of blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, with kerūv̱i̱m. A work of planning you shall make them. ^26:2The length of one curtain is eight and twenty in ᵅcubits. And the width four in ᵅcubits. The first curtain is the sameᵝ measure as all the curtains. ^3Five curtains shall be joining, eachᵅ unto its sister, and five other curtains joining, each unto its sister.† ^4And you will have made loops of blue upon the lipᵅ of the first curtain,ᵟ on the border, at the joiningᵞ place. And so you will do at the lipᵅ of the border-mostᵨ curtain, at the second joiningᵝ place. ^5Fifty loops you shall make on the firstᵅ curtain, and fifty loops you shall make at the border of the ᵝcurtain, which is at the second joining place, making receivedᵞ the loops, each unto its sister.

^6And you will have made fifty hooks of gold. And you will have made to be joined the curtains each unto its sister by the hooks. And the dwelling will have become ᵅone.

^7And you will have made curtains of goats hairᵅ for a tent over the dwelling. Eleven curtains you shall make them. ^8The length of the first curtain is thirty in cubits. And the width is four in cubits for the first curtain. The same measure will be for all eleven curtains.† ^9And you will have made to be joined five curtains ᵅalone, and six curtains alone. And you will have doubled overᵝ the sixth curtain at the front face of the tent. ^10And you will have made fifty loops upon the lip of the first curtain, the border most one at the joining place, and fifty loops upon the lip of the second joining curtain.† ^11And you will have made hooks of bronze, fifty, and you will have made the hooks come into the loops. And you will have made to be joined the ᵨtent. And it will have become one.

^12And an overhang, the remaining part in the tentᵨ curtain, (the half of the curtain† will be the remaining part), will overhang upon the back of the dwelling. ^13And the cubit on the oneᵅ side, and the cubit on the otherᵅ side, in the remaining part, in the lengthᵝ of the tent curtain, will be overhanging over the sides of the dwelling, on oneᵅ side, and on the otherᵅ side, to cover it.

^14And you will have made a covering for the tent, skins of rams, being made to be dyed red, and a covering, skins of seals, for on the above side. ^15And you will have made theᵅ framesᵝ for the dwelling, acacia wood, standing up. ^16Ten cubits long is the frame. And a cubit and a half of the cubit wide is the first frame. ^17Two pinsᵅ shall be for the first frame, being made to be ᵝjoinings, each pin parallel to its sister. So you shall do for all the frames of the dwelling. ^18And you will have made frames for the dwelling. Twenty frames for the edge toward the south, southward. ^19And forty bases of silver you shall make under twenty of the frames, two bases under the first frame, for its two pins, and two bases under the next frame for its two pins, and so on. ^20And for the second flank of the dwelling at the north edge, twenty frames. ^21And forty bases of silver, two bases under the first frame, and two bases under the next frame, and so on. ^22And for the flanks of the dwelling facing seaward, you shall make sixᵅ frames. ^23And two frames you will make for the corners of the dwelling, againstᵅ the flanks. ^24And they will be coupled stretchingᵝ downwards. And both alike they will be coupled at its top unto the first ring. So will be for the two of them. For two corner buttresses they will be. ^25And they will have been eight frames. And their bases of silver, sixteen bases, two bases under the first frame, and two bases under the next, and so on.

^26And you will have made bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the first ribᵅ of the dwelling, ^27and five bars for the frames of second rib of the dwelling, and five bars for the rib frames of the dwelling, at the flank of the sea, seaward.ᵅ

^28And the middle bar in the midst of the frames will be passing through from ᵅend unto ᵅend. ^29And the frames you will make to be overlaid with gold, and rings you will make, gold housings for the bars. And you will have made to be overlaid the bars with gold.

^30And you will have made stand the dwelling according to its order which you had been made to see on the mountain. ^31And you will have made a veil, blue and and purple, and worm of sarlet, and finely interwoven linen, being made twisted. A work of design one will make it with kerūv̱i̱m. ^32And you will have set it upon four pillars of acacia, being made to be overlaid with gold, upon four bases of silver. ^33And you will have set the veil under ᵅhooks. And you will have made come unto there, the house beyond the veil, the Ark of the testimony. And the veil will have made a separation for you between the holy place, and between the holiest holy place. ^34And you will have put the kappōretᵅ upon the Ark of the Testimony in holiest holy place.ᵝ ^35And you will have set the table outside, at the veil, and the menōrah opposite the table, against the rib of the dwelling southward, and the table you will put against the rib of the north. ^36And you will have made a screen for the door of the tent, ᵅblue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, and finely interwoven linen, being made twisted, work of an embroiderer. ^37And you will have made for the screen, five pillars of acacia. And you will have made them to be overlaid with gold. And their hooks are gold. And you will have poured out for them five bases of bronze.

And you will have made the altar, acacia wood, five cubits long, and five cubits wide. The altar shall be square, and three cubits is its height. ^27:2And you will have made its horns upon four of its corners. From of it will be its horns. And you will have made it to be overlaid with bronze. ^3And you will have made its pots for its fat ash, and its shovels, and its bowls, and its forks, and its fire pans. For all of its vessels you shall produce bronze.

^4And you will have made for it a grating, a bronze net work. And you will have made upon the net four rings of bronze, upon the four extremities of it. ^5And you will have put it under the rim of the altar extendable downward. And it will have come as far as the half way point of the altar. ^6And you will have made poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood. And you will have made them to be overlaid with bronze. ^7And its poles will have been made to come into the rings. And the poles will have been upon the two sides of the altar whenᵅ bearing it. ^8Being hollow, with planks you shall make it, as that he had made you see on the mountain. So they will do.

^9And you will have made the court of the dwelling. At the edge south southward, hangings for the court, finely interwoven linen being made twisted. A hundred in ᵅcubits is the length for the first edge. ^10And its stands are twenty, and their bases are twenty, of bronze. The brackets of the stands, and their rods are silver.

^11And likewise at the edge north. In the length, the hangings are one hundred cubits long. And its stands are twenty, and their bases are twenty, of bronze. The brackets of the stands, and their rods are silver.

^12And the width of the court at the sea edge hangings is fifty cubits. Their stands are ten, and their bases are ten. ^13And the width of the court at the edge east eastward is fifty cubits. ^14And fifteen cubits are the hangings at the shoulder. Their stands are three, and their bases are three. ^15And at the second shoulder are fifteen hangings. Their stands are three, and their bases are three.

^16And for the gate of the court, a screen twenty cubits, blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, and finely interwoven linen being made twisted, the work of an embroiderer. Their stands are four, and their bases are four. ^17Every stand of the court round about, being made to be rodded with silver, and their brackets are silver, and their bases are bronze. ^18The length of the court is one hundred in ᵅcubits. And the widths, fifty with ᵝfifty.

^19For all the articles of the dwelling, in every service of it, and all the pegs of it, and all the pegs of the court, will be bronze.

^20And you, you will make to be commanded the sons of Yisra’ēl. And they shall take unto you pure beaten olive oil for the light to make the lamp go up continually. ^21In the tent of appointment, outside of the veil, which is over the testimony, A̕harōn shall set it in order, and his sons, from setting until daybreak, before the face of Yăhwēh — a statute for time immemorial for their generations for oil from with the sons of Yisra’ēl.

And you, make come near unto you A̕harōn your brother, and his sons with him, from the midst of the sons of Yisra’ēl, to make him to be priest for me, A̕harōn, Nadav̱ and A̕v̱i̱hū’, E̕l‘azar and Ī’tamar, sons of A̕harōn. ^28:2And you will have made holy garments for A̕harōn your brother for glory and for beauty. ^3And you, you make to be spoken unto every one most intelligent of mind, whom I will make to be filled with a spirit of intelligence. And they will have made the garments of A̕harōn, to make him to be set apart, to make him to be priest to me.

^4And these are the garments which they will make, a ᵅbeautiful breastpiece, and a girdle vest, and an over vestment, and an inlaid long robe, a turban, and a sash. And they will have made the holy garments for A̕harōn your brother, and for his sons, to make him to be priest to me.

^5And they shall receive the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the worm of scarlet, and the finely interwoven linen. ^6And they will have made the girdle vest, of gold, blue, and of purple, worm of scarlet, and of finely interwoven linen, being made twisted, a work of planning. ^7Two shoulder pieces joining will be for ᵅit, at two edges of it. And it will have been made to be ᵝjoined. ^8And the plan of itsᵅ girdle belt, which is upon it, shall be like the work of it, from the same of it: it will be gold, blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, and finely interwoven linen, being made twisted.

^9And you will have taken two stones of onyx, and you will have made to be engraved upon them the names of the sons of Yisra’ēl. ^10Six out of their names shall be upon the first stone, and the six, thoseᵅ being remaining, upon the second stone according to their begettings. ^11The work of a stone engraver, engravings of a seal ring, you shall make to be engraved on the two stones, according to the names of the sons of Yisra’ēl. Being made surrounded by inlays of gold, you shall make them. ^12And you will have set the two stones upon the shoulders of the girdle vest, stones of remembrance for the sons of Yisra’ēl. And A̕harōn shall have carried their names before the face of Yăhwēh, upon his two shoulders as a remembrance. ^13And you will have made inlays of gold, ^14and two chains of pure braided gold. You will make them like the work of twined cord. And you will have attached the chains, like twined cords upon the inlays.

^15And you will have made the beautiful breastpiece of judgment, a work of planning according to the work of the girdle vest. You will make it gold, blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, and finely interwoven linen. Being made twisted you will make it. ^16Being square it will be, being doubled over, a span is the length of it. And a span is the width of it. ^17And you will have made to be filled in it, a setting of stone, four rows stone, a row of a †carnelian, topaz, and an emerald is the first row. ^18And the second row, ember garnet, lapis lazuli, and chalcedony. ^19And the third row, jacinth, agate, and amethyst. ^20And the fourth row, chrysolite, onyx, and jasper, being made to be inlaid with gold. They will be in their settings.

^21And the stones will be according to the names of the sons of Yisra’ēl, twelve, according to their names, an engraving of a seal ring. Each according to its name will be for the twelve tribes. ^22And you will have made over the beautiful breastpiece braided chains, the work of twined cord, pure gold. ^23And you will have made upon the beautiful breastpiece two rings of gold. And you will have put the two rings upon the two edges of the beautiful breast piece. ^24And you will have put the two twined cords of gold upon the two rings, at the edges of the beautiful breastpiece. ^25And the two ends of the two twined cords you shall put upon the two inlays, thatᵅ you will have put upon the shoulders of the girdle vest at the front of its face. ^26And you will have made two rings of gold. And you will have set them upon the two bottom edges of the beautiful breastpiece upon its lip, which is at the other side of the girdle vest, at its inside.

^27And you will have made two rings of gold. And you will have put them upon the two shoulders of the girdle vest extending downward on the front of its face, adjacent to its joining place up above the plan of the girdle vest. ^28Thenᵅ they shall tie the beautiful breastpiece from its ringsᵝ unto the rings of the girdle vest with the cords of blue to be upon the plan of the girdle vest. And the beautiful breast piece shall not be removed from over the girdle vest.

^29And A̕ harōn will have carried the names of the sons of Yisra’ēl on the beautiful breastpiece of judgment over his heart in his entering unto the holy place for a remembrance before the face of Yăhwēh continually. ^30And you will have put into the beautiful breastpiece of judgment the ū̕ri̱m and the tūmi̱m. And they will have been over the heart of A̕ harōn in his entering before the face of Yăhwēh. And A̕ harōn will have carried the judgment of the sons of Yisra’ēl over his heart before Yăhwēh continually.

^31And you will have made the over vestmentᵅ of the girdle vest wholly of blue. ^32And there will have been a mouth atᵅ its head, in the midst of it. A lip will be at the mouth of it round about, a work of weaving, like the mouth of a taḥra̕.ᵝ It will be for it; so that it will not be torn. ^33And you will have made upon its bottom hem pomegranates of blue, and purple, and worm of scarlet, upon its bottom hem round about, and bells of gold in the middle of them round about. ^34A bell of gold, and a pomegranate, a bell of gold, and a pomegranate, and so on, will be upon the bottom hem of the over vestment, all round about. ^35And it will have been upon A̕ harōn for ministering. And its sound will have been heard, in his entering into the holy place, before the face of Yăhwēh, and in his going out. And he will not die.

^36And you will have made a crest flourish of pure gold. And you will have made to be engraved upon it, like the engravings of a seal, “Holy to Yăhwēh.” ^37And you will have set it upon a cord of blue. And it will have been upon the turban. At the front of the face of the turban it will be. ^38And it will have been upon the brow of A̕harōn. And A̕harōn will have carried the iniquityᵅ of the holy offerings, which the sons of Yisra’ēl will make holy, for all their holy gifts. And it will have been upon his brow continually for a reminder of theirᵝ acceptability at the face of Yăhwēh.

^39And you will have inlaid the long robe with finely interwoven linen. And you will have made a turban with finely interwoven linen. And a sash you will make, the work of an embroiderer. ^40And for the sons of A̕harōn, you will make long robes. And you will have made for them sashes and hats. You will make these for them, for glory and for beauty. ^41And you will have made them clothed, A̕harōn your brother, and his sons with him. And you will have anointed them. And you will have made their handsᵅ to be full. And you will have made them to be holy. And they will have been made to be priests for me.

^42And make for them linen pants to make to be covered the naked flesh. From the hips and onward the thighs they will be. ^43And they will have been upon A̕harōn and upon his sons in their going into the tent of appointment, or in their drawing near unto the altar, to make to be ministry in the holy place, and they will not bear iniquity, so thatᵅ they will have died. A statute of time immemorial it will be for him and for his seed after him.

And this is the wordᵅ which you will do for them to make them to be holy to make them to be priests for me. Take one bull, a son of the herd, and two perfect rams, ^29:2and unleavened bread, and unleavened ring cakes, being mixed with oil, and unleavened thin wafers, being anointed with oil. Fine flour of wheat you shall make them. ^3And you will have put them upon one basket. And you will have made them come near in the basket, and the bull, and the two rams.

^4And A̕harōn and his sons you will make come near unto the door of the tent of appointment. And you will have washed them in water. ^5And you will have taken the garments. And you will have made A̕harōn clothed with the long robe, and with the over vestment ofᵅ the girdle vest, and the girdle vest, and the beautiful breast piece. And you will have girdle vested him with the plan of the girdle vest. ^6And you will have set the turban upon his head. And you will have put the consecration crest upon the turban. ^7And you will have taken the oil of anointing. And you will have poured it upon his head. And you will have anointed him.

^8And his sons you shall make come near. And you will have made them clothed with long robes. ^9And you will have girded them with the sash, A̕harōn and his sons. And you will have tied for them the hats. And the priesthood will have been for them, for a statute of time immemorial. And you will have made to be full the hand† of A̕harōn, and the hand of his sons.

^10And you will have made the bull come near at the face of the tent of appointment. And A̕harōn and his sons will have laid their hands upon the head of the bull. ^11And you will have slaughtered the bull before the face of Yăhwēh, at the door of the tent of appointment. ^12And you will have taken from the blood of the bull. And you will have put it upon the horns of the altar, with your finger. And all the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar. ^13And you will have taken all the fat, the stuff making to be covered the innards, and the lobe upon the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat which is upon them. And you will have made it smoke at the altar. ^14And the flesh of the bull, and its skin, and its dung you shall burn in the fire, at the outside of the camp. It is a sin offering. ^15And the first ram you will take. And A̕harōn and his sons will have laid their hands upon the head of the ram. ^16And you will have slaughtered the ram. And you will have taken its blood. And you will have tossed it upon the altar, round about. ^17And the ram you will make it pieced to pieces. And you will have washed its innards, and its lower legs. And you will have put them upon its pieces, and upon its head. ^18And you will have made the whole ram smoke at the altar. It is an ascending offering for Yăhwēh, a soothing aroma. A fire offering to Yăhwēh it is.

^19And you will have taken the second ram. And A̕harōn and his sons will have laid their hands upon the head of the ram. ^20And you will have slaughtered the ram. And you will have taken from its blood. And you will have put it upon the lobe of the ear of A̕harōn, and upon the lobe of the ear of his sons, the right one, and upon the thumb of their hand, the right one, and upon the thumb of their foot, the right one. And you will have tossed the blood upon the altar, round about. ^21And you will have taken from the blood which is upon the altar, and from the oil of anointing. And you will have made it sprinkled upon A̕harōn and upon his garments, and upon his sons and upon the garments of his sons with him. And he will have been set apart, he and his garments, and his sons, and the garments of his sons with him. ^22And you will have taken from the ram, the fat, and the fat tail, and the fat, the fat making to be covered the innards, and the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat which is upon them, and the right leg, (because it is a ram of †being made to be filled), ^23and one round of bread, and one ring cake of bread with oil, and one thin wafer from the basket of unleavened bread which is before the face of Yăhwēh, ^24and you will have set these all upon the palms of A̕harōn, and upon the palms† of his sons. And you will have waved them, a wave offering before the face of Yăhwēh. ^25Then you will have taken them from their hand. And you will have made them smoke at the altar upon the ascending offering, for a soothing aroma before the face of Yăhwēh. It is a fire offering for Yăhwēh. ^26And you will have taken the breast from the ram of †being made to be filled, which is for A̕harōn. And you will have made waved it, a wave offering before the face of Yăhwēh. And it will have been for you as a portion. ^27And you will have made to be set apart the breast, the one being waved, and the leg of the †elevated contribution, which will have been made waved, and which will have been made elevated, from the ram of ‡being made to be filled, out of what is for A̕harōn, and out of what is for his sons. ^28And it will have been for A̕harōn, and for his sons, for a statute of time immemorial, from with the sons of Yisra’ēl. For it is an elevated contribution. An elevated contribution it shall be from with the sons of Yisra’ēl, from the sacrifices of their well being offerings, their elevated contribution for Yăhwēh.

^29And the holy garments of A̕harōn will be for his sons after him for putting the anointing on them, and to make to be filled in them their †hand. ^30A seven of days the priest will wear them, succeeding underᵅ him, from his sons, who will come into the tent of appointment, to make to be ministry in the holy place.

^31And the ram of being made to be filled† you will take. And you will have boiled its flesh in a holy place. ^32And A̕harōn will have eaten, and his sons, the flesh of the ram, and the bread which is in the basket at the door of the tent of appointment. ^33And they will have eaten the things which were made to be a wiping† on them, to make to be filled their ‡hand, to make them to be speciallyᵅ set apart. And a stranger shall not eat them, because they are set apart.

^34And if will be remaining from the flesh of the being made to be †filled sacrifice, and from the bread unto the daybreak, then you will have burned the remainder in the fire. It may not be eaten, because it is set apart. ^35And you will have done for A̕harōn and for his sons, thus, according to all which I have made to be commanded you. A seven of days you will make to be filled their †hand. ^36And a bull, a sin offering you shall make daily ᵪfor the making to be wiped away. And you will have made to be purification for the altar, in your making to be wiping for it. And you will have anointed it to make it to be holy. ^37A seven of days you will make to be wiping away for the altar. And you will have made it to be holy. And the altar will have become the holiest holiness. Every one touching on the altar will be holy. ^38And this is what you will make to be done‡ upon the altar, †two lambs, sons of a year, two daily, continually. ^39The first lamb you will do in the daybreak, and the second lamb you will do between the settings. ^40And a tenth ē’phah of fine flour, being mixed with beaten† oil, a fourth of the hi̱n; and a drink offering, the fourth of the hi̱n of wine, will be a tribute offering for the first lamb. ^41The the second lamb you will do between the settings like the tribute offering of the daybreak. And like its drink offering you will do for it, for a soothing aroma, a fire offering to Yăhwēh. ^42An ascending offering it will be continually for your generations at the door of the tent of appointment, before the face of Yăhwēh, where I appoint myself to meet, to make to be spoken unto you there. ^43And I have appointed myself unto there for the sons of Yisra’ēl. And it shall be specially set apart by my glory. ^44And I will have made to be holy the tent of appointment, and the altar. And A̕harōn, and his sons, I will make to be holy to make them to be priests for me. ^45And I will have dwelt in the midst of the sons of Yisra’ēl. And I will be for them as Almĭghty. ^46And they will have known that I Yăhwēh am their Almĭghty, in that I have made them go out from the land of Egypt to settle myself in the midst of them. I am Yăhwēh their Almĭghty.

And you will have made an altar for making to be smoked incense-smoke. Acacia wood you will make it. ^30:2A cubit will be the length of it. And a cubit will be the width of it. Square it will be. And two cubits will be the height of it. From of it will be the horns of it. ^3And you will have made it to be overlaid with pure gold, its roof, and its walls, round about, and its horns. And you will have made for it a crown molding of gold, round about. ^4And two rings of gold you shall make for it, on the underside of its crown molding, upon the two sides of it. You will make them upon two of its sides. And it will have been for housings of poles, to carry it on them. ^5And you will have made the poles acacia wood. And you will have made them to be overlaid with gold. ^6And you will have put it at the face of the veil which is in front of the Ark of the testimony, at the face of the veil which is in front of the testimony, where I appoint myself to meet you. ^7And A̕harōn will have made smoke upon it, incense smoke of fragrances, in the daybreak. In the daybreak, in his making good† the lamps, he shall make it smoke. ^8And in A̕harōn’s making go up the lamps between the settings, he shall make it smoke incense-smoke continually before the face of Yăhwēh into your generations. ^9You shall not make go up over it strange incense-smoke. And an ascending offering, and a tribute offering, and a drink offering you will not pour upon it.

^10And A̕harōn will have made to be a wiping upon its horns once in the year, from the blood of the kippūri̱m sin offering. Once in the year he will make to be a wiping upon it into your generations. Holiest holiness it is for Yăhwēh.

^11Then Yăhwēh made to be spoken unto Mōshēh, saying, ^12“When you take up the heads of the sons of Yisra’ēl, to those being their †attenders, then they will have given, each man a wiping °for his soul to Yăhwēh, in ‡attending them, and there will be no plague among them, in attending them. ^13This they will give: everyone passing by the attenders, half of the sheqel, in sheqels of the sanctuary, ten gērah of the sheqel, half of the sheqel, an elevated contribution to Yăhwēh. ^14Every one passing by the attenders, from a son of twenty years, and upward, shall give Yăhwēh’s elevated contribution. ^15The rich shall not make it more, and the poor shall not make it less from half of the sheqel, for giving the elevated contribution of Yăhwēh, to make to be wiping for your souls. ^16And you will have taken the kippūri̱m silver from with the sons of Yisra’ēl. And you will have given it for the work of the tent of appointment. And it will have been for the sons of Yisra’ēl as a remembrance before the face of Yăhwēh, to make to be wiping for their souls.

^17Then Yăhwēh made to be spoken further† unto Mōshēh, saying, ^18“And you will have made a basin of bronze, and the base of it will be bronze, to wash ᵅoneself. And you will have put it between the tent of appointment, and between the altar. And you will have put water thitherward. ^19And A̕harōn and his sons shall have washed from it their hands, and their feet. ^20In their entering unto the tent of appointment, they will wash with water, and they will not die, or in their drawing near unto the altar, to make to be service, to make smoke a fire offering for Yăhwēh. ^21And they will have washed their hands, and their feet, and they will not die. And it will have been for them a statute of time immemorial, for him, and for his seed, into their generations.”

^22The Yăhwēh made to be spoken further unto Mōshēh, saying, ^23And you, take for yourself top spices, liberated myrrh, five hundreds, cinnamon spice, half of it, fifty and two hundreds, and calamus spice, fifty and two hundreds, ^24and cassia, five hundreds, in the sheqel of the holy place, and olive oil, a hi̱n. ^25And you will have made it an oil of holy anointing, a perfume, made to be perfumed, the work of a perfumer. A holy anointing oil it will be. ^26And you will have anointed with it the tent of appointment, and the Ark °with the testimony, ^27and the table, and all the articles of it, and the menōrah, and its articles, and the altar of incense smoke, ^28And the altar of the ascending offering, and all the articles °for it, and the basin, and the base of it. ^29And you will have made them to be holy. And they will have become the holiest holiness. Everyone touching on them will be† made to be holy. ^30And A̕harōn and his sons, you shall anoint. And you will have made them to be holy to make them to be priests to me.

^31And unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, you will make to be spoken, saying, “The oil of holy anointing, this will be, for me, into your generations. ^32Upon the flesh of man it shall not be made †rubbed. And with its measurement they may not make the like of it. Holy it is. Holy it will be for you. ^33A man who may perfume the like of it, and who may put from it upon a stranger, then he will have been cut off from his people.”

^34Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Take for yourself fragrances, †stacte, and ‡onycha, and galbanum fragrances, and pure frankincense, one part with one part each will be. ^35And you will have made it incense smoke, a perfume, the work of a perfumer, being made to be salted, pure, holy. ^36And you will have pulverized from it a finely made crushing. And you will have put from it before the face of the testimony, in the tent of appointment, where I appoint myself for you thither. Holiest holiness it will be for you. ^37And the incense smoke which you will make, in its measurement, you may not make for yourselves. Holy it will be for you to Yăhwēh. ^38A man who may make the like of it for making perfume with it, then he will have been cut off from his people.”

Then Yăhwēh made to be spoken unto Mōshēh, continuing to say, ^31:2“See! I have called by name Be-tsal’ēl son of ’Ūri̱ son of Ḥūr with the tribe of Yehūdah. ^3And I have made him to be full of the Spĭrit of the Almĭghty, in wisdom and in understanding, and in knowledge, even in each trade, ^4to plan plans, for work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze, ^5and in crafting stone for setting, and in crafting wood, for work in each trade. ^6And I, behold, I have given him ’Ōholi̱’av̱ son of A̕ḥi̱samaḳ with the tribe of Dan. And in the hearts of all of the wise °in heart, I have put wisdom. And they will have made all which I have made you to be commanded, ^7the tent of appointment, and the ark for the testimony, and the kappōret, which is upon it, and all the articles °for the tent, ^8, and the table, and its articles, and the pure gold menōrah, and all of its articles, and the altar °for the incense smoke, ^9and the altar °for the ascending offering, and all its articles, and the basin, and its base, ^10and the ministerial garments, that is the holy garments for A̕harōn the priest, and the garments of his sons, to make them to be priestly, ^11and the oil of anointing, and the incense-smoke of fragrances for the holy place. According to all which I have made to be commanded they shall do.”

^12Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, saying, ^13“And you, make to be spoken unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, saying, ‘Surely my Sabbaths you shall keep, because a sign it is between me, and between you, into your generations, to acknowledge that I am Yăhwēh making you to be specially set apart. ^14And you will have kept the Sabbath, because holy it is to you. The one making it to be really profane, death he will be made to die. Yea if anyone is doing on it work, then that soul shall have been cut off from the midst of its people. ^15Six days work may be done, and on the seventh day is a sabbath of total sabbathing, holy to Yăhwēh. Anyone doing work on the sabbath, death he will be made die. ^16And the sons of Yisra’ēl will have kept the Sabbath, to do the Sabbath into their generations, a covenant of time immemorial, ^17between me, and between the sons of Yisra’ēl a sign it is to time immemorial, because in six days Yăhwēh had made the heavens and the earth. And on the seventh day he had sabbathed. Then, he refreshed† himself.

^18Then he gave unto Mōshēh, as he finished, making to be spoken with him on mount Si̱nai̱, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone being written with the finger of the Almĭghty.

Then the people saw that Mōshēh made to be delayed to descend from the mountain. Then the people assembled itself in front of A̕harōn. Then they said unto him, “Rise, make for us gods which will go before our faces, because this Mōshēh, the man who had made us ascend out of the land of Egypt, we have not known what what has happened to him.” ^32:2Then A̕harōn said unto them, “Make to be torn off the rings of gold which are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and make them come unto me.” ^3Then all the people made themselves to be tearing off the rings of gold which were on their ears. Then they made them come unto A̕harōn. ^4Then he received it from their hand. Then he fashioned it with an engraving tool. Then he made it, a calf, a poured metal image. Then they said, “These are your gods Yisra’ēl which have made you ascend from the land of Egypt.”

^5Then A̕harōn saw. Then he built an altar before the face of it. Then A̕harōn proclaimed. Then he said, “A feast to Yăhwēh tomorrow!” ^6Then they made to rise early in the morrow. Then they made ascend ascending offerings. Then they made come near well-being offerings. Then the people sat down for eating and drinking. Then they rose up to make to be merriment.

^7Then Yăhwēh made to be spoken unto Mōshēh, “Go! Down! Because your people has been† made to be corrupt, which you have made ascend from the land of Egypt! ^8They have turned aside quickly from the way which I have made to be commanded them. They have made for themselves a calf, a poured metal image. And they make themselves to be bowing down to it. And they sacrifice to it. And, they say, ‘These are your gods Yisra’ēl which have made you ascend out of the land of Egypt.’”

^9Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “I have seen this people, and behold, a people stiff necked it is! ^10And now give me rest, if you may! And let my anger burn hot against them! And I can consume them. And I can make you into a great nation!” ^11Then Mōshēh made to be entreated the face of Yăhwēh his Almĭghty. Then he said, “To what end Yăhwēh will your anger burn against your people which you have made to go out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong hand? ^12For what will the Egyptians say? Saying into evil he has made them go out, to kill them in the mountains, and to end them from upon the face of the land. Turn from your hot wrath and anger, and be pitied over the disaster to your people. ^13Remember! For A̕v̱raham, for Yitsḥaq, and for Yisra’ēl, your servants, which you have sworn yourself to them by yourself. Then, you made to be said unto them, ‘I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens. And all this land which I have said, I will give to your seed, and they will have inherited it to time immemorial.

^14Then Yăhwēh was sorry over the disaster which he had made to be spoken to do to his people. ^15Then he turned back.

^15bThen Mōshēh descended from the mountain. And the two tablets of the testimony were in his hand, tablets being written on their two sides, on the front and on the back being written. ^16And the tablets were the work of the Almĭghty, they and the writing. The writing of the Almĭghty it was, engraved upon the tablets.

^17Then Yehōshū‘a heard the sound of the people with shouting. Then he said unto Mōshēh, “The sound of war is in the camp.” ^18Then he said, “It’s not the sound singing of victory, and not the sound singing of defeat. A sound of singing I am hearing.” ^19Then it was, as that he had drawn near unto the camp, then he saw the calf, and dances. Then Mōshēh’s anger burned. Then he made cast the tablets from his hands. Then he made them to be shattered under the mountain. ^20Then he took the calf which they had made. Then he burned it in the fire. Then he ground it until when it had been crushed fine. Then he scattered it upon the face of the waters. Then he made the sons of Yisra’ēl drink.

^21Then Mōshēh said unto A̕harōn, “What has this people done to you, that you have made come upon it great sin!” ^22Then A̕harōn said, “May anger not burn, my lord. You have known the people, that it is into evil. ^23And they said to me, ‘Make for us gods which will go at our faces, because as for this Mōshēh, the man which made us ascend from the land of Egypt, we have not known what has become of him.’ ^24Then I said to them, ‘Who ever has gold, make yourselves to be tearing it off.’ Then they gave it to me. And I made it cast into the fire. Then this calf came out.”

^25Then Mōshēh saw the people, that it was unrestrained, because A̕harōn had let them be unrestrained, as a slander among those standing against them. ^26Then Mōshēh stood in the gate of the camp. Then he said, “Who is for Yăhwēh! Unto me!” Then all the sons of Lēυi̱ gathered unto him. Then he said to them, “Thus has said Yăhwēh Almĭghty of Yisra’ēl, ‘Put each man his sword on his side. Pass and turn from gate to gate in the camp, and kill each man his brother, and each man his fellow.” ^28Then the sons of Lēυi̱ did according to the word of Mōshēh. Then there fell from the people on that day about three thousand men.

^29Then, Mōshēh said, “Make full your hands this day for Yăhwēh, because each man will be against his son, and against his brother, and to put a blessing upon yourselves this day.”

^30Then it was in the morrow. Then Mōshēh said unto the people, “You, you have sinned a great sin! And now I will ascend unto Yăhwēh. Perhaps I may make to be a wiping away on behalf of your sin.” ^31Then Mōshēh returned unto Yăhwēh. Then he said, “Alas this people has sinned a great sin. And they made for themselves gods of gold. And now, if you will bear their sin, and if not, blot me out please from your book which you have written.”

^33And Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot him from my book! ^34And now go! Lead the people into what I have made to be commanded to you. Behold my Mĕssenger will go before your faces. And in the day of my attending, then I will have attended their sin upon them.”

^35Then Yăhwēh smote the people over what they had done with the calf, which A̕harōn had made.

Then Yăhwēh made to be spoken unto Mōshēh, “Go! Ascend from here, you and the people which you have made ascend from the land of Egypt unto the land which I have sworn myself to A̕v̱raham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‘aqōv̱, saying, “to your seed I will give it!” ^33:2And I will have sent at your face a messenger. And I will have made to be driven out the Kena‘ani̱, the E̕mōri̱, the Ḥitti̱, and the Perizzi̱, the Ḥiυυi̱, and the Yev̱ūsi̱. ^3Unto a land flowing milk and honey, but I will not ascend in the midst of you, because a people hard necked you are, lest I should consume you in the way!

^4Then the people heard this disastrous word. Then they mourned. And and they had not put on, each man his ornaments upon himself. ^5Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Say unto the sons of Yisra’ēl, ‘You are a hard necked people, if for one moment I should ascend in the midst of you, then I would have made you to be finished. And now make your ornaments descend from upon you, so that I may know what I can do for you. ^6Then the sons of Yisra’ēl made themselves to be stripped of their ornaments from the mountain country of Ḥōrēv̱.

^7And Mōshēh would take the tent, and he had been stretching it on the outside of the camp, making it far from the camp. And he had called it, “The tent of appointment.” And it had been that all making to be sought Yăhwēh would go out unto the tent of appointment, which was on the outside of the camp. ^8And it had been, as Mōshēh was going out unto the tent, all the people would arise, and they had stationed themselves, each at the door of his tent. And they had made looked after Mōshēh until his entering into the tent. ^10And when all the people had seen the pillar of the cloud standing at the door of the tent, and all the people had risen, then they had made themselves to be bowing down, each man at the door of his tent.

^11And Yăhwēh had made to be spoken unto Mōshēh, face to face, as that a man will make to be spoken unto his friend. And he had returned unto the camp. And the one making him to be served, Yehōshū‘a, son of Nūn, a young man, did not depart from the midst of the tent.

^12Then Mōshēh said unto Yăhwēh, “See! You are saying unto me, make ascend this people. And you have not made declared to me who you will send with me. And you have said, ‘I have known you by name,’ and also ‘You have found favor in my eyes.’ ^13And now, if please I have found favor in your eyes, make known to me, please your ways, and I will know you so that I may find favor in your eyes. And see that your people this nation is.

^14Then he said, “My face will go, and I will have made rest for you.” ^15Then he said unto him, “If your face is not going, do not make us ascend from here.” ^16And by what will it be known then that I have found favor in your eyes, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, that we are distinct, I and your people from all the people which are upon the face of the ground? ^17And Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Even this matter, which you have made to be spoken, I will do, because you have found favor in my eyes. And I will know you by name.”

^18Then he said make me see, please, your glory. ^19Then he said, “I, I will make pass all my goodness in front of your face. And I will have called on the name† Yăhwēh before your face. And I will have favored whom I may favor. And I will have made to be pitied whom I may make to be pitied.”

^20Then he said, “You will not be able to see my face, because no man may see me, and he will have lived.” ^21Then Yăhwēh said, “Look! A place next to me. And you will have stationed yourself upon the rock. ^22And it will have been in passing my glory, then I will have put you in a crevice of the rock. And I will have sheltered my palm over you until my passing. ^23Then I will have made my palm turn aside. And you will have seen my back. And my face will not be seen.”

Then Yăhwēh said unto Mōshēh, “Hew out for yourself two tablets of stones like the former. And I will have written upon the tablets the words which had been upon the first tablets which you have made to be shattered. ^34:2And be set for the daybreak. And you will have ascended in the daybreak unto the mountain of Si̱nai̱. And you will have stationed yourself next to me there upon the top of the mountain. ^3And no man shall ascend with you. And also let no man be seen in all the mountain. Also flocks, and cattle they may not pasture at the front of that mountain.”

^4Then he hewed out two tablets of stones like the former ones. Then Mōshēh rose up early in the daybreak. Then he ascended unto the mountain of Si̱nai̱ as that Yăhwēh had made him to be commanded. Then he took the two tablets of stone in his hand. ^5Then Yăhwēh descended in the cloud. Then heᵅ made to be stationed himself with himᵝ there. Then, he called on† the name of Yăhwēh. ^6Then, Yăhwēh passed over his face. Then, he called out Yăhwēh, Yăhwēh, the merciful Gŏd, and gracious, slow to° anger, and abounding in° loving kindness and faithfulness. ^7Keeping watch over loving kindness to the thousandth-most generation. Bearing iniquity and transgression and sin. And a making to be acquitted he will not make to be acquitted. Attending the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, and upon the sons of the sons, upon the third-most, and upon the fourth-most generation. ^8Then, Mōshēh made to be quick. Then, he bowed down earthward. Then, he made himself to be worshiping.

^9Then he said, “If please I have found favor in your eyes, A̕dōnai̱, may you go, please A̕dōnai̱ in the midst of us, because a hard necked people it is, so that you will have forgiven our iniquity and our sin, so that you will have inherited us.”

^10Then he said, “Behold I am cutting a covenant. Before all your people I will do wonders, which have not been created in all the earth, and in any of the nations. And will have seen every people, when you are in the midst of it, the work of Yăhwēh, because an awesome thing it is that I am doing with you. ^11Keep watch for yourselves that which I am making to be commanded you this day. Behold, I am driving out from before your faces the E̕mōri̱, and the Kena‘ani̱, and the Ḥitti̱, and the Perizzi̱, and the Ḥiυυi̱, and the Yev̱ūsi̱. ^12Watch yourselves, for yourselves, lest you may cut a covenant with an inhabitant of the land when you are entering upon it, lest it become as a snare in the midst of you. ^13Yea, their altars ye shall pull down, and their pillars ye shall make to be smashed, and its A̕shērai̱ ye shall cut down. ^14Yea, you shall not make yourself to be worshiping another god, because Yăhwēh is jealous. His reputation: he is the jealous Gŏd, ^15lest you cut a covenant with the inhabitant of the land, then they will have committed harlotry following after their gods. And they will have sacrificed to their gods. And one will have called you, and you will have eaten from his sacrifice. ^16And you will have taken from his daughters for your sons. And his daughters will have committed harlotry, following after their gods. And they will have made your sons commit harlotry after their gods.

^17Gods of cast metal you may not make for yourselves.

^18The feast of unleavened bread you shall keep, a seven of days. You shall eat unleavened bread, which I made to be commanded you at the appointed time °in the month of A̕v̱i̱v̱, because in the month of A̕v̱i̱v̱, you had gone out from Egypt. ^19Every opener of the womb belongs to me. The male† opener, ox and sheep. ^20And the opener of a donkey you will redeem with a lamb. And if you will not redeem it, then you will have broken its neck. Every firstborn son °among you, you shall redeem. And none shall seeᵅ my face empty-handed. ^21Six days you may work. And on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing and in harvesting you shall rest. ^22And the feast of Shav̱ū‘ōt you shall do; for you the first fruits of the wheat harvest. And the feast of the ingathering, in the circuit of aᵅ year. ^23Three times in the year every male of you will seeᵝ the face of the Lord Yăhwēh Almĭghty of Yisra’ēl. ^24Yea, I will make dispossessed the nations from before your faces. And I will have made wide your borders. And no man will desire your land in your going up to see‡ the face of Yăhwēh your Almĭghty three times in the year.

^29And they will have been coupled extending downward. And both alike will be coupled unto its top, unto the first rings. So it will have been done to the two of them, for two corner buttresses.

^4Then he made for the altar a grating, a bronze net work, under the rim of it, extendable downward until its half way point.

^19And their stands were four. And their bases were four, of bronze. And their brackets were silver. And the plating of their heads, and their rods were silver.

^20Then they made the two rings of gold. Then they put them upon the two shoulders of the ē̕phōd, extending downward on the front of the face of it, adjacent to its joining, up above the layout of the ē̕pōd.
