The Sacred Name vs. The Sacred Name Heresy

The Sacred Name is Yahweh, pronounced  EE A OO AY.

EE     as in     Feet
A      as in     Father
OO     as in     Food
AY     as in     May

Now there are people and cults that claim one must pronounce the name in order to be saved, or that they must pronounce the name exactly in order to be saved.  There is a commandment to remember the Name, but most Christians and Jews do not know this (Exodus 3:14-15), and the Scripture does say, "Whosoever calls upon the name of Yahweh shall be saved," (Joel 2:32), and it also says that the only Saviour is Yahweh (Hoshea 13:14).  And it does say, "They will look upon Me whom they have pierced through" (Zech. 12:10).  So their is no other name under heaven by which men can be saved, except the name of Yahweh.

So they claim that you have to say the name to be saved.  I have already outlined the requirements for salvation.  Saying the sacred name is necessary if one knows it and knows the commandment and is is convicted of its applicability by the Holy Spirit.  In that case, not saying it would mean that one refuses to repent of known sin.  We can say the same thing about baptism (immersion), or circumcision.  Doing these things does not save us.  And not doing them in ignorance is not fatal to salvation.    The only unforgivable sin is the high handed sin (see Numbers 15).  I am speaking about the household of faith here, not about the unbelieving world.  For them no sin is forgiven.

How can one call upon Yahweh's Name without saying it?  In the Hebrew language, a name is more than a label to identify a person.  It sums up their character, fame, power, or reputation.  In the English language we say that we must not defame someone's good name.  This does not necessarily mean only to say his name in a bad way.  It means to slander his reputation or character. Therefore, to call upon God's name means to invoke his character as a just, merciful, and righteous person.  So it is possible to call upon the name of the Creator by putting faith in his mercy and righteousness, without knowing what he calls himself.

There is a deeper issue here.  Cults like to be exclusive.  The reason they like to be exclusive is that they like to emphasize the US and THEM mentality.  Authoritarian controlling cult leaders are rarely satisfied with  the biblical definition of who US and THEM really are, because they derive their power from the devotion of their followers, so they have to define the US so as to exclude all other leaders from US.  That way, they are the only leader.  That is how these bizarre doctrines come about (with a little help from the Adversary also).   It is this same mentality that Catholics or Adventists assert when they say that their is no salvation outside the Church.  It is this same disease that affects all who are personally judgmental of other denominations.  It is one thing to judge false doctrine; it is quite another to be personally insulting and look down on other persons from an attitude of self-righteousness and superiority.  You may indeed be a better person.  But this is not be be used.  Better to be humble and treat the other person as yourself.

There are those called "evangelicals," "protestants," "catholics," "presbyterians," "calvinists," "Arminians," "baptists," "lutherans," "messianics," "feast keepers," "Jews," etc. who will be saved because they correctly call upon the name of Yahweh in the sense that I have described above.
