The date 34 c.e. for the
Passion of our Lord is proved by the biblical calendar of feasts.
For it is clear that he died on the preparation day to the Passover (John
19:14), which was always the 14th day of the biblical month of Aviv
(Exodus 12:1-6). The new moon of Aviv is
always the first visible crescent of the moon nearest
to the spring equinox. Thus, we can calculate the day of the
week that the 14th of Aviv fell on for all years. Since, we know
that Yayshua died on Wednesday, we can eliminate all the years in which
the 14th of Aviv did not fall on Wednesday. When this is done, 34
c.e. is the only year that is left. The range of years considered
by scholars is 26 c.e. to 36 c.e.
